mhm. i know a lot of <span style='color:orange'>come on, Zig, you and I both know you've been here long enough to know about the swear filter.</span> who play sports, but then i also know a lotta great guys who do too. it's not a universal thing.
cshank, honestly, just loosen up. you're really assuming a lot, i can tell. just let it all drop, and focus on things that have to do with you. just because someone looks at you funny doesn't mean they hate you. that's... really, <i>really</i> assuming too much.
Yep...I agree with Zig. Just push things aside. Become more carefree! You can also try joining a couple of clubs if you want to socialize even more.
I joined a polynesian dancing club and a taiko drumming club (big japanese drums). Every year our school held a rally where most clubs would show off. Polynesian club had the tahitian dances, which I participated in (and yes, I dressed in the really tight underwear-type thing and and had rafia tied around my legs) and played the taiko drums in another performance. Great fun!
High school isn't much. Don't worry too much about it. Just try to have fun, because that's what HS really is about. Forget the people who **** you off. Don't concentrate on girls. Concentrate on being who you want to be =}.

OP: I sympathise. I hated high school. The best advice I can think of is: don't ever compromise who you are. Not for anybody, not even your friends. Don't try to change who you are - it isn't possible, and it'll just make you unhappy. You are the only person you can be, so you might as well enjoy it. I learned this the hard way...
As for beating the crap out of people picking on you... I can't say "violence is not an answer" because it undoubtedly is, and an effective one at that. It still doesn't make it right, especially if you are "elite" karate m4574h. Fight back (of course), but don't ever land the first blow. It's not a last resort, it's a means of dealing with threats.
