Unbinding My Keys Now!

OneSneakYmousEOneSneakYmousE Join Date: 2002-12-02 Member: 10389Members
In all the earlier versions of NS I never had a problem with NS unbinding my keys.

Now, whenever I bind "4" to Primary Fire, it unbinds when a new map reloads on a server.

I have to constantly go back to the controls menu and put "4" in primary fire.

What's the deal?

    there's a tech support forum for this kind of stuff, but it sounds like you deleted your config.cfg somehow

    Just out of curiosity, why would you have '4' firing your gun?

    It's my key configuration. Everyone has their own likeness on how they position their hand on the keboard, and the '4' button is prefect for firing.

    Yea I was wondering that too... Don't you use mouse at all ?

    But anyway, just type that into the config.cfg file instead of the controls menu.

    Config.cfg does unbind all in the beginning of every round, and makes the nr. 4 what is it supposed to be. So just change it in config.cfg.

    But don't trust me too much <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    if yer config.cfg is read-only then it wont be able to save any changes and at every mapchange it would reload the defaults, so take off read-only and it shoudl be able to save any changes you make.

    What Zel said. If you don't know what that means, right click on your HL/NS/config.cfg and go to properties to uncheck read only <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    But watch out with this, if I were you, switch back to read only once you made your changes... Some servers, admins and other "evil" people sometimes change things you won't like... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Should the config file be READ ONLY since I fixed it? Someone said that servers can change your configs? How do I get my default configs back? The ones that I had at the begining of the game.

    Also, I can't find the health and ammo bind buttons for Commander, why are they gone? How do I bind them?

    Make yourself an "ns.cfg", copy the contents of your config.cfg to it, edit it to your heart's content. Make a file called "autoexec.cfg", put the line "exec ns.cfg" in it, and you're all set. Just to clarify, these are .txt files with the extension changed - you can just use notepad to open them.
