soundstorm issues
I saw in the previous thread on this mobo and sound card that many people were having problems, so I'm hoping I'll get a good response from this

Basically whenever I use EAX which is what the card is supposed to use I get 5.1 sound however all the non-ambient sounds echo like crazy so much that I just can't play the game anymore.

Can anyone help me please?

other system specs -

AMD Athlon 2000 XP 1.666 GHz
Geforce ti4200

I have the a7n8x (not deluxe) which is basically the same board. But i don't use the EAX Sound. But i heard that eax makes a lot trouble.

You should try to update your sound driver. You can use the drivers from realtek and overwrite the nvidia drivers. But i don't know if the deluxe board has the same audio chipset. The a7n8x (non deluxe) has the ALC650 chip i think, drivers are on the realtek website (http://www.realtek.com.tw/)

I already have the latest nvidia drivers (2.45) and I have a soundstorm chipset, so surely a realtek driver wouldn't work very well with it?

soundstorm is a nVidia Chipset, so you can't use any drivers than the official ones (which you already use). You can now wait for someone who knows more then me or you can use the realtek chipsetz, which is also part of the deluxe mobo (it has 2 audio chipsets). Then you must deactivate the soundstorm chip in the bios and install the realtek or nvidia drivers.

so i cant have 3d sound in half life with the realtek drivers, cause that kinda negates the point of the fix?

you can have 5.1 sound, but not eax . But i don't know much about sound, maybe you should just try it.
