    Transport Tycoon. If you manage to get your company on it's feet this game is incredibly addictive.

    yea battle realms is pretty coolie, but it sometimes the games can just drag out since no-one gets the advantage, thats about the only downside i can think of, otherwise its very coolie...

    other games:
    Heavy Metal: FAKK2 - only single player, Q3 engine, and well you can choose any combo of weapons you like (weaps like: Swords, Handguns, Shields an bigger guns - the swords got different combos based on the other weap...)
    Soldier of Fortune: 1 in the shoulder, 1 in the groin, 1 in the head 'down' <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
    Tribes 2: pretty good game i think, but it has a major prob: pubs. i havnt played it that much but it seems that Pubs have very poor teamplay, but i could imagine that clans/tribes is very interesting.

    American McGee's Alice. It was $20 when released a few years ago, and is probably down to about $10 now.

    System Shock 2 (last saw it for $10)
    Fallout 1 & 2 (Can easily find both together for $10 at CompUSA, Best Buy, and others)
    Jagged Alliance 2 Gold Pack (includes expansion, recently paid $8 for it in an EBWorld in Atlanta)
    X-Com 1, 2, perhaps also 3. (Bought all 3 in a boxed set for $11 at an EBworld a year ago, included a limited-edition promotional poster saying that X-Com: Alliance is "coming soon for Windows 95/98".

    <span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>edited to include prices.</span>

    I can vouch for Fallout 1 & 2, had TONS of fun playing those games. They do have mature themes though, don't know if thats a problem. System Shock 2 is also I great one but I doubt you'll be able to find it easily.

    (you can also get fallout 1 & 2 for about 10 bucks at best buy, great deal.)

    The original Dungeon Keeper pwns DK2.

    Well, here's my list of somewhat aged games which I'm intending to buy (or have bought) when I get around to it:

    <b>Deus Ex</b>
    Every gamer in the world owes it to themself to play this game. It's a first person shooter with roleplaying game elements, and is EXTREMELY plot-driven. The entire game is based around the story.

    <b>American McGee's Alice</b>
    Third person shooter. A re-take on Alice in Wonderland; much, much darker. Incredible levels. I've only played the demo, but I've heard good things.

    <b>Clive Barker's Undying</b>
    A crap-your-pants scary game. The demo alone was enough to give me a good scare a number of times. In case you don't know who Clive Barker is (and I didn't) he's a horror writer - the plot is meant to be excellent. The levels are brilliant. The gameplay's quite inventive, too - you use a weapon with one hand and cast spells with the other.

    <b>Giants: Citizens Kabuto</b>
    Heaps of fun, and full of excellent Brittish humour. I haven't played any more than the demos (yes, there are two), but they were great.

    <b>Sacrifice</b>
    Get. It. By now it should be fairly cheap. I've extolled the virtues of this game so many times... it's a real time strategy game played from the perspective of a wizard comanding summoned armies, third person. You move your character aroudn with the keyboard, control the camera and give orders with the mouse. You summon your troops, and cast spells to help them in combat. There's a wide variety of play styles (you're in the service of one of five gods (sort of), and each gods' units set requires a slightly different approach to use properly), and your own skill with spells can turn the tide of battle. The singleplayer storyline is quite engaging, and the voice acting is top-notch.

    <b>The original two Warcraft games</b>
    If you don't have them already <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Dungeon Keeper 2 is a joke, a very poorly executed joke. It contains no actual strategy (except if you can count tyring to desperately micromanage an entwined mess of polygons a strategy) and is so repetitive that I'm still wondering if it only actually contained one level.

    As for American McGee's Alice, I absolutely recommend it to everyone. It's fun to play, pretty as heck and has an amazing soundtrack.

    Like someone else said, StarCraft is a good game and is dirt cheap now. The best way to buy it is in the Battle Chest edition so you get SC and SC: Brood War (you also get guides but you don't need them). Also Diablo has a Battle Chest, but I think it's more expensive (you also must like hack and slash games to play it). You can also get Half-Life dirt cheap now <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> .

    +10 points for the first person to get the advertising slogan & match it to the game.

    All hail sierra games...

    I might also suggest Theme Hospital -- Bullfrog games, as ppl said, are always good, but TH is particularly hilarious and phun. I also just got Age of Empires 2 for 15 buckazoids -- good deal, that.

    a lot of good suggestions here... new on my old games wish list, thanks to y'all: Alice, Deus Ex, Syberia, System Shock 2, Fallout Tactics...

    there's so many good really old games that I don't think work on any computer faster than a 486 with windows 3.1 :> Ultima 7: Serpent Isle, Master of Magic...

    games I didn't like:

    Fallout 2 -- the original was so good that the 2nd couldn't stack up, in my eyes <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
    StarCraft -- I'll get murdelized for this, but SC never even came close to gripping me... I liked all the warcrafts, I liked C&C: Red Alert, but SC just frustrated me. Go figure.
