<div class="IPBDescription">pts and vets?</div> Last few servers I have been on, it has always been "Kick the vet! He ruined this game!" or "Great, heres a vet..." Why is this I'm asking?

    i think this rooted in the idea that the marines cant win in 2.0

    the real problem is the fact that to win the marines can no longer rambo off at random.

    my case in point is my younger brother who played one game of lan ns and then decided to be a commander of a pub server after a desparate realocate to central processing. he held out fo 45 minutes versus at 10 man team 6 of whom were onos.

    then he got right back in the chair and won the next 2 games in a row. for some one who had never sat in a commmand chair i feel this is completely a superb job the key was his marines did what he said and he has spend way too much time playing war craft.

    opps kinda got lost and on a tangent. basically screw those guys they are wrong adminitedly it is difficult to win as the marines but not impossible and peronally i enjoy the new style of play over the tow hive lock down or jetpack rush of 1.0

    The general idea as that the PT/Vets sat around doing nothing and made NS2 such crap due to the aliens winnings, fact of the matter is the game is uneven due to last min changes made by the "team" as a whole including flarya to make the game more fun for pub play.

    This has been explained many times by all the Pt/Vets and even by flarya himself but peoples minds are set about the Pt/Vets, also the CS players who like to run off on thier own killing everything (possible in 1.04) hate 2.0 as u have to work as a team which is rarely if ever done in CS.

    Fact is the PT/Vets and flarya give up thier own time to make this game and all they get back off people is aload of crap about how they suck this that and the other.

    Just ignore these people u are doing a great job making a great game, the people that cant see this are just sad.

    Have you guys ever played 2.01b? It's fairly balanced, due highly to the huge boost electrification got, allowing marines to expand at a much faster rate then ever before. I credit the lack of marine wins in 2.0 solely to the last minute electrification nerf the devs threw in.

    I have had occasions where playtesters and vets have acted very "elitest," but we can't judge an entire crop by one rotten apple (or that's how I think it goes) can we?

    All that testing was negated by the fact that flayra changed the game just before release. Supposedly it was balanced but was void of fun so he changed alot of things at the last minute.

    From what I hear, the game was virtually balanced. However, it wasn't as fun, so Flayra made changes that made it fun again, but unbalanced it. The "OMG, they ruined the game!" reactions aren't necessary. Basically, the marines and aliens switched spots.

    Either way, Flay and the crew are working on betas that look like they'll bring more balance to the game without squashing the fun factor.

    I think this is a widespread problem of <b>MASSIVE IDIOCY</b>. The vets and PTs did fine, in my opinion. As I understand it, NS was balanced (more or less) about a week before release, but the problem was NS was no longer fun. So a few last minute changes were made to bring the fun back in, but those changes basically skewed the balance again. You can still see the balance that was done by looking at even tier battles. Things can get very hecktic, and usually the better team will win. Unfortunatly, the unbalancing factor is that aliens get their higher tiers more quickly.

    So basically, what I'm saying is <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>THANK YOU VETS & PT'S! WE APPRECIATE YOU!!</span>

    Excatly what did Flayra changed to make it more fun at the last minute?
    Why it wasn't fun before that? I think those games which last long and have some good fights in them are the most funniest games. So if it was pretty well balanced, why the changes?

I thought the idea was that its done when its done and not it must be ready late july. The game they delivered isn´t ready for the public and that is their fault. The beta testing should have lasted till it was balanced. I think its stupid to change a balanced game days before release. And if they do they have to test it and release it later if the changes unbalance it.

    Why do whales beach themselves?

    Some people are just stupid. If you hate vets because theyre cocky or childish then thats your opinion to have. But if you hate people who tested a game because of minor balance issues(or even large balance issues), then you're just plain stupid. Maybe they dont realize that one of the main reasons the beta test took so long is so flayra and max could code all the awesome new features. Maybe they dont realize how many different versions we tested, and how great this one is compared to all of them. Maybe they dont realize that in every single multiplayer RTS ever released large balance patches are released within a month of going gold. Hell, Blizzard likes to make balance patches between the end of the beta and the game's release, and then patch it again shortly after release. This is really the standard game development process. People are dumb and naive, dont let it get to you. I don't think anyone would disagree if I said a large chunk of the public crowd still doesnt understand 2.0 after it being out for over a month, we had to do our best to understand and adjust to patches at least once a week =[

    Starcraft took ~4 years to balance(and not everyone agrees that its even balanced today), maybe if you gave us another year to balance NS and get everything perfect then you'd appreciate the work we did more. But at some point the devs have to collectively say this is the best version we've played and this is the most fun, almost all of the features that we wanted have been coded and are working, lets release it to the public and see how it goes.

    Can you imagine people saying "omg heres a constalation member kickorz him."

    The majority of people dont even know what the icon means unless they choose to ask besides which alot of servers don't seem to display them. Either that or there is a really pitifull amount of people with icons next to their names.

    It's how ill-informed people, who don't like to think about processes behind results, act.

    NS 2.0 isn't balanced ->
    NS 2.0 was tested extensively by a large group of people ->
    That large group of people hasn't done its job well

    I don't really blame them for their opinion. They don't know about the last minute changes and they don't know how much NS is still a work in progress. It could be usually argued that if a game isn't balanced when it releases, its testers/devs haven't done their jobs well. It doesn't apply here, but it isn't the biggest ignorance in the world to claim it anyways since usually it has some credibility. Their error is foremost in the way they present their opinions and complain about a free game that they have been provided with.

    IMHO the reason why vets are disliked in some cases are:

    1. 2.0 is unbalanced (this is a FACT so suyf). As far as the average NS player is concerned, 2.0 was in testing for months but was still unbalanced. In actuality the CURRENT 2.0 was only tested for about 3 days AFAIK.

    2. Eliteism. They resent the fact that a vet/pt is somehow "superior" to a regular player. I know, I know, very few if any of you vets think that way, but that is the way some people feel.

    3. Jealosy. I know I am a victim of PT jealosy. I WANT TO BE A PLAYTESTER! WHY CAN'T I BE A PLAYTESTER, I'M WAY BETTER THAN HIM! e.t.c.

    I'm not entirely sure how the PTs were chosen (please enlighten me someone), but AFAIK, the majority were chosen from clans. Personally, I resent this method of selection, as I am not in a clan, hence my chances of becoming a PT are zero. This is the case for most players. Note that I say that I resent this method of selection, <i>not that it is the wrong way to select PTers</i>. I am just saying that, as a player, I resent those PTers who became PTers because they were in a certain clan, especially since the clans were (again, AFAIK) all American, and i'm.... not.

    So basically the answer is <b>jealosy</b>.

    *edit* Oh, and also the fact that you teased us for months by talking about 2.0, while simultaineously releasing very little info until the last week.     Jaml you don't get it do you? last minute changes were made (almost a total 180) to make the game faster (a downfall being the fact that as vets/pts we tend to work together as it is a teamplay based mod, so we don't rambo all that much) If we had left in res activation time (you think you have slow games now) and other things that were changed, we didnt have time to fully work the bugs out.     The only thing the vets/pts did wrong was fail one simulation: Dumbasses.

    I think during the beta testing period, half of the marine team should have just muted everyone in the game and did whatever the hell they wanted. That would simulate a pub match very well.

    Well bad choice. Hope the next time they dont listen to the whiners and release a major balance catastrophe like 2.0. We aren´t talking about win ratios of 55/45 or 60/40. Here we have a 90%/10% ratios

    Ok, i've done my best to not mention balance issues in 2.0 at all, but i'm getting sick of this

    Yes, a lot of you feel that 2.0 is unbalanced. I don't care, it's <b>FUN</b>. If i'm out there as a skulk eating marines, i'm enjoying it just as much as if i'm a marine pinned down in base fighting to stay alive for over a minute.

    Balanced or unbalanced, i'm having a damn good time playing NS.

    Every time the community rushes production, the release is a disaster.

    It happened with Tribes 2, SWG, and many, many other games... including NS.

    While esuna has the ideal mindset for playing games, there's way too many people out there who just play to win games instead of enjoy them. They act as if life is over if they consistently lose a game.

    Its classic for players to scream about imbalance when something they liked got taken away from them. If you play on THE HAMPTONS server, I swear that marines win about 60/40...     But the thing you're neglecting to consider that with Tribes 2 or SWG, if it gets a bad set reviews and it's that much of a disaster the companies lose a lot of money and get hit extremely hard, possibly even go bankrupt and shut down.

    With free mods like NS (While i am entirely aware that Flayra has invested a lot of money in it.) and other free mods, there's no bad sales, there's no lost money since any errors can be put right ASAP where if the game was boxed and shipped you can't correct those errors. Yes, the community may suffer at the hands of a bad release, it can be put right and unlike retail games, since mods are free people will give it another chance and download it again.

    180 changes!!!! Are you serious? If this is true how could you release 2.0 without further testing. So much changes just call for a catastrophe. Its your fault. You simply released 2.0 too soon. If you change the game that drastically you have to throw back your release date accordingly.

    Pubblic playtesting is bad. People expect playable products or they leave and the community shrinks. Betas are for testing.
