NEARLY FOUR HOURS?!

That's how long I play my normal NS break for, ffs! We go through almost all the NS maps in that period of time!

    5 hours on ns_mineshaft.

After awhile, I hit the windows key by accident, and I noticed it wa 4 am. I started at 11 pm. :/ I promptly quit after that. It probably went till 6 hours.

Although it is very difficult to break those long end-games, it can be accomplished through the use of teamwork.

Longest game I've been in was about an hour and fourty minnutes.

I seem to recall, aaaaaaages ago (may have been pre 1.04, or maybe the early days of 1.04) a game of ns_caged that took five or six hours. It finished at 2am, or thereabouts. By the end of the game, I had 67 kills (the most on my team)

Generally, whenever I command the game is quite epic. That's directly because of my play style - I've always gone for resources first rather than hives (even in 1.04), and in all RTSs I usually take ages before I attack. Interestingly enough they don't tend to be boring drawn-out games, just really long ones.

For me, longest game was 5 minutes.

But, for real now. Longest game I ever had in 1.04 was like....2 hours long. A nice sexy relocate to cargo....with full upgrades and HMGs....mmmmmm.....fade pwnage in the vent.

Longest game in 2.0? Mine is short.....I only had a game last about 90 minutes before I jumped in the chair and recycled everything except the armory and handed out an assload of grenade launchers.

I played a game where the timeleft variable was at -800ish, however the scoreboard meter was only showing about half an hour, I dont know what is more reliable, but that could have been a 13 hour game, and there wasn't anyone around from the start.

My longest game in 2.0 was just last week - three hours, with me commanding

The 'Long Games' in 1.04 were far more enjoyable than the long games in 2.0.

In 1.04 you were desperatly fighting for survival, you couldn't afford 900 turrets or GLs, and as an alien you could go onos, or fade and had Gorges sticking up OCs while the skulks desperatly tried to keep the marines out the hive.

In 2.0 its just turret spam in base + aliens charging at the wall for several hours. Not fun.

1.04's long games sucked, what are you talking about?

It's just waiting for the marines to own your ****, because you are stuck as a skulk.

    Rose-tinted glasses.

There were some good 'survival' games in 1.04, but now I also remember the lame 2-hive lockdowns...

When we're talking about long games I think we're talking about those which not only last for a long time, but also aren't entirely 1-sided, like lock-down games and 2.0 marines-sitting-in-base games.

when it very first came out i had a coupla games that lasted well into 6 hours. and it wasnt lame either, was constantly shifting who was winning, damn fun

Lets face it no long games are good. Forlorn 2.0 is just the opposite of 1.04 don't act so outraged when mart says 1.04 long games are superior to long 2.0 games. At least 1.04 long games were sort of fun. Regardless that you were just a bunch of skulks the aliens still had a chance, they could sneak out vents and get RT's, therefore allowing more RP=fade/onos. Once you have those you just needed to play your cards right and *gasp* go out in one big group. Oh wait that's teamwork, my mistake. I make the error where I think teamwork is a valid strategy in 'pubs' too much.

You guys haven't played games where I've commanded

But that aside, even as kharaa I've found that I prefer 2.0 long games more. 1.04 long games were awful. They mostly happened when the marines locked down the hives, and then took their time. Two hour mop-up. Oh, so fun for the aliens to have no possible hope of winning...

Every single 2.0 game I've played which has run over an hour has been a fair game. Bugger the turret factories - you can take them out with teamwork. And the "what's teamwork on a pub?" argument doesn't work, because when the seasoned players start realising the importance of teamwork they'll play the support classes more. Anyway, it depends on the server. I've seen a coordinated team of Lerks working together to drive back marines, to take out turret farms, and generally prod buttock. 2.0 games are hardly ever stalemates - they're too dynamic to be called that. It does often feel like you're losing badly, and the enemy is invulnerable, when the enemy feels exactly the same.

But even so, I'd like to see turrets be less accurate but do more damage. That way you can still dodge them if you're good enough, but the price of stuffing up is higher

Longest game was 174 minutes (2 hours and some)

On ns_veil, marines woulda lost if they didn't spam so many turrets and overflowed any alien that went near the marine base

Ive played quite a few 2-hr games, and one or two that probably went 3 that I didnt stick around to watch. 6 is insane

Same here , I had an extremely long game on Nothing 2 months ago , started in the late night (2AM) , with only 4-6 people (the aliens had a hard time defending the hives) , I was hoarding res between Marine Start and Cargo , and swiftly teched to HA/JP HMG , sieging Viaduct from the Red Room.

Then we tried to siege Silo... and things went wrong.

A skulk managed to eat the Red Room sieges under my nose. Since we were winning I thought it wasn't important , but they rebuilt Viaduct. After a while the sieging HAs (2-3 max , me included) were encountering fades and we were booted out of Silo because of umbra.

Max tech 1.04 1 hive lockdowns aren't exactly stalemate situations. They're just like their 2.0 counterpart , but instead of the marines having the advantage because of GLs and huge turret farms , in 1.04 the aliens slowly march upon the marines , because of mine destroying , acid spam , and the evil 1.04 umbra. Plus the fades take advantage of the lockdown overflow to re-evolve as soon as they're killed.

We were still holding Generator , but after a while I noticed the sky was brighter. That's were I thought "uh oh we should hurry to take silo" , but each sieging attempt resulted in a counterattack taking one more node. As more people joined the game (other time zones) the aliens had no trouble jeopardyzing us. The sun was already high in the sky...

One alien player let us know he was satisfied to win the game after about 80 deaths...
