I have. It's ok... definitely more of the same. Not even a new gameplay mode in the demo, which i thought was a bit dumb. But that's Dice for ya... good for one innovation per release.

Yeah, not all that different from the stuff you're used to in BF1942.

The JP and amphibious transports can make for some fun moments though.

Don't waste your time with BF1942. Wait till DoD comes out on HL2. The possibilities are endless. :-) I hope they do it... SO...BADLY....

I couldn't even find the damn JP on the map..
But the water jeeps are quite fun... the Allied amphibious car actually looked like it was built for water, so I just drove right in... where is the Axis one is just a modified jeep.. I acutally drove it around as if it were just a land jeep up untill I went off a bridge into water.. I was all like "Oh crud" and then I just kept going..

Actually, the bf1942 models are quite detailed close up, but due to how the engine works, the farther away things are, the less polygons they get. So no matter how detailed they are up close, everything will always be a 5 polygon stick man or a 5 polygon airplane or a 5 polygon weapon of mass destruction when viewed at a distance.

Battlefield1942 supports 64 players, and has GIGUNDUS maps, and the vehicle handling isn't bad.

You sicko! BattleField is a lot better than HL. Just look, their vehicles are awesome. Practically better than HL at pretty much everything.

You seem to be forgetting that we are discussing teh Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII Demo, not how much DoD fanboys can rant about how good a future game may be.

Anyway, I've played the demo, and there really isn't any reason to purchase the full expansion. The jetpack is in one of the buildings in the center town, you have to press 'G' to swap your current weapons for the jetpack and its weapon setup. The jetpack was fun for the first few rooftop jumps, but the novelty wore off rather quickly. And the fact that people were team killing to get the jetpacks ruins the experience.

Hrmmm. Gots to find me that jetpack, I suppose.

Funny thing is that I looked for hours last night and couldn't find it. I'm such a nubblin.

Practically better... well, except at modding support, gameplay, netcode, voice comm, animations, sound, in-building, frame rates, and general polish.

But otherwise it pwns j0000!!!!

BF42 has but one thing that makes it special, and that's vehicles. On every other level it is strictly amateur hour. When the next gen of games come out that support vehicles (UT2K4, HL2, Q4, Stalker, Soldner, etc.), BF's already small market share will disappear. It was a game with huge potential that was ultimately squandered and wasted.

And no, I am not fanboying. there are plenty of other games that smack BF42 around as well.
