    Alien theme by James Horner

    Cliff Eidelman did lots of atmospheric/moody stuff for aliens universe as well.

    Hans Zimmer's work in "The Thin Red Line" Sound track.

    Several dark, forboding tracks in that one.

    Some tracks from the Blade Runner sound track work too. Its more ambient but has some moments as well.

    Wanger is known for his chaotic music like Ride of the Valkyries, but I think he has a few darker ambient ones. Don't quote me on that, though.

    I like Holsts "The Planets". That is a fantastic piece of classical music <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Lux Aertna from Requiem of a Dream.
    It was the song used in the Two Towers trailer as well as the unofficial NS trailer.

    It's also Wagner, though "Wanger" has comedy value <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I'd recommend you pick up some "Godspeed You Black Emperor!". Great orchestral, post-apocolyptic ambient, fantastic stuff.

    If you don't mind a bit of cheese there's Mortiis which fullfills your cheesey medieval ambient, i really like the stuff at least. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    EDIT:

    Also, give "Devil Doll" a look in, it's got lyrics, but not too much, it's more dialogue and poetry as opposed to sung lyrics. The music is a beautiful mix of dark orchestral and progressive rock.
