Is it possible to have Windows and Linux installed on the same computer and be able to select which Operating System to start up? It is possible with Windows 98 and 2000 Adv Server.
Yes. It can be done using LILO, GRUB, or even 2k's boot manager, although the last one can be a bit tricky as you have to copy your linux boot sector into a file on your windows partition. A google search or two should turn up plenty of HOWTO's.
Install Win 2000/XP first paritioning the drive at the beggining of install. Then install Linux using the patition you setup in Windows for Linux. NOT the partition you installed Windows on. This is really easy. I have done many times on XP. It seems Windows has more user friendly partition tool in the beggining of the install. This process remove and starts fresh so don't lose any data.
I suggest grub because once its installed you don't have to write to the bootsector anymore unlike lilo. But whats funny is i use lilo on 3/4 machines....hrm...

It allows both using LILO. It sets up pretty painlessly.
