2.0 Hera

...wasn't this fixed?
Well, playing a fun game on Hera today, the aliens were doing great - we had managed to secure all three hives, had signifigant defenses up, and were about to make our rush on the marine team when all of a sudden...

....DataCore and Vent both explode at the exact same time, due to sieges placed in that magic spot right outside of Data Core Delta. I thought that the maps had been adjusted so this was fixed? Admittedly, this has been the first time I've seen it, but it should be worth looking into, as this was a tactic that pretty much broke Hera last time.

If I'm mistaken and some new tactic was used... please let me know. Being on the alien team, I know I didn't get a very good look at their setup.

    Well, it has to be pretty much be directly right in front of your hive, and it should be in the hives direct LOS. Honestly, you can't let them build there, and it's the only way they can get the double siege.

    I admit, it was pretty unexpected - although I had read somewhere that they had moved Vent so that you couldn't seige it from that location. Which meant that we didn't focus on that area as much as we should have - admittedly, the game ended unsatisfactoraly as our team F4ed out - right when our team was making an Onos run to crunch on their main base at their spawn.

    Alas, alas.

    *shrugs* Only so much I can do. Or rather, only so much I'm prepared to do (and no, I didn't know it was still possible).

    A guy has a spot on his face and everyone calls him 'Mr.Spotty'.

    Processing is easier to bilebomb from out of the vent or an upper position.

    hera is still a battle for processing (not only for sieging), but it looks nicer and its worth battling in there.

    Nice thing about 2.0 is that knocking down two hives from a lame siege spot is no longer necessarily a game-ender. As long as you hold the upper hand with resources, you can still steamroll them with fades and onos.

    1hive = no bilebombs

    Hera now has 2 key positions.
    1. Processing with the double siege point
    2. Cargo storage. From cargo storage you can siege 3-4 res nodes. 2 at holo, the one in the room above processing and hera entrance. Thats 4 less res nodes to the aliens and makes map control so much easier if the sensorys around there are all gone.

    Not to complain about Hera being a bad map - and as I said, I'm not certain if they did something strange that I missed, although I can't say one way or another. But I had thought that it had been taken care of as far as the sieging attacks on both hives went. So if it was something that you wanted to fix, then hey - I'm just letting you know. If its going to stay as is, then we'll just plan for it. ^_~

    Good move on the commander's part. Well done, Comm.

    Guess you guys shouldn't have let them take that area, eh?
