Probably one of the worst engines on the market today yet half-life is still the most popular...

*SIGH*
Half-Life is the mod moddable engine, has the largest potential fan base, easy to work for, lots of people willing to help out on this engine, etc. The pros for using this engine heavily out-weigh the cons. No point getting mad, or saying the team is stupid, it was a smart move.

Yeah, like he said. The engine's growing old, especially in the graphics dept., but it has the largest fan base and is sturdy and efficient.

Anyone else here think HL got popular becuase of CS? It's still amazing how many mods are being produced, and top quality mods at that for the HL engine Gotta love it!! I can't wait for NS

Even if the graphics are getting dated, with good modelers and high resolution, it still looks great (and may I add, with high framerates on almost all systems)

To hell with graphics I say! They are gravy, gameplay is all that matters, I am tired of games trading in thier gameplay for graphics. If gameplay was good I wouldn't mind pong graphics.

pong graphics I might have trouble with for an FPS.
Half-life graphics are fine by me, though I have heard others say that can't even look at half-life anymore because the graphics are so bad... I say, "show's me where you put your values in a game"

I'm not saying Natural Selection doesn't look good. In fact, I think it looks great for the HL engine. The maps have great detail, modelling's pretty good, and the skins are good.

By the way, Half-Life has problems with higher-poly stuff, even on fast computers. At times, even when the polys are just double the original HL model's, my comp slows down... and hell, I'm running with an ATI Radeon 8500 256 MB, with 1.4 Ghz. Well, okay. By slowdown, I mean it goes down to 20-30 FPS. But this is HL! And the models don't look super-top notch! So why should it go slow?

Hmm... that reminds me, I need to reformat my drives. It's doing funky crap. I hate doing this...

Are there going to be any weapon-specific (or class-specific, in the case of aliens) kill icons? It may get a tad annoying if the standard "skull and crossbones" icon is the only one.

Buh? One second... *looks at Radeon 8500 box*

Oh yah. It is 128. My mistake there. But it's still GF3 quality.

ummm depends which make of ati 8500 you have... I got an 8500 and lemme say that even if the power is as good ATI is notorious for slow drivers (they are working on it and they promise good drivers for the 9700) the hercules ati is fairly good... if you wanna see how your card stacks up go to www.guru3d.com...and also how muuch ram you got in your system because that can cause low fps problems too...

I'm sure we'll come up with some pretty good RC5 shots, MonsE said he went through a great deal to pick out the best.

ggrrr, triple posts are so annoying

I am far past triple posts stalker, as for the third I am just a perfectionist and couldn't let that error be unfixed, as for the second post I put it there because the first post didn't come out right cause I don't know how to use quotes.
