Hard-drive Just Randomly Died

Help!!!!!
My harddrive [not my windows one, another one on this comp] just randomly died... Computer just **** up out of the blue, entirely random.
My comp **** up so i had to restart
when i restarted, it told me
"H: is not accessible.
The File or directory is corrupted and unreadable"
Can't do anything with it...
Any suggestions?
And as far as I'm aware, there are no hdd backups.
And i don't want to take it in for warranty immediately [if i still have one] cos it might not be totally screwed and i had a lot of... stuff... on it

Hampton - i click on it, it asks me two options and i ticked the second one that starts with 'scan', as opposed to the 'fix any problems' or something
And nothing happens =/

Try run a scandisk to see if it can fix it
Or ghost it on to another drive then scandisk it
I've farewelled anything that might be on the HDD, and now I'm just interested in seeing if its alive
your hardware post was a little strange - Seagates have a decently good reputation, while Maxtors are akin to a firebomb attached to the inside of your tower.I can honestly tell you-Maxtors have gotta be the shoddiest-quality harddrives that I have ever seen. I know someone who has gone through two maxtors since the beginning of this year (you'd think he'd learn...) and my own is on its last legs.
Already, I have super-heavy fragmentation, long load times, and random errors. It's only a matter of time - I've already begun backing my files up
