Not really NS related.
I recently just built a computer, and I got a mother board with an Onboard soundcard. I got the ASUS A7N8X-X (its an AMD board). It has a built-in Realtek ALC650 6.1CH (with built in HP amplifier). But currently, I don't have a 6.1 stereo system. I just have my old EMachine stereo speakers.

Everything I do be it playing MP3s, playing games, or watching videos/tv/dvds, my sound is REALLY REALLY quiet, but I have the volume all the way up. I've tried about 4 different stereo speakers, but none of them work.

I don't know what could be wrong. The only way I can hear anything good is with my headphones, but those hurt after an hour or so. What can I do?

System Specs:
AMD AthlonXP "Barton" 3000+ 400Mhz FSB
ASUS A7N8X-X 400Mhz FSB
320mb PC2100 RAM (For now anyways... I am getting 1GB of PC3200 soon)
Realtek ALC650 6.1CH with built in HP amplifier
WinXP Home

Thats all that should really matter.

Could it be my speakers that I am using? I am also planning on getting some fairly cheap 6.1 speakers (83$). Will those help? I have tired putting in another sound card, but it did not help.... it was actually worse.

EDIT: Heh, sorry about that... thought I was in Tech Support.

    ummm, wierd

Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Sounds and Multimedia

play around with the sound settings there (both volume and advanced)

Infact, before you do that take a scrn shot and post it up of your settings (use ctrl+Print Scrn) and then you can paste that in to any paint style program, crop the section we want, save it in another file then attach (or host it if you can )
