Sound Card Question

I'm building my first computer, and I heard people were having Half-Life problems with certain sound cards... I am planning on buying a "Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer" and I was wondering if it gave anyone else problems. On the website I'm buying my parts from (newegg.com), one reviewer said it messed up his Half-Life, so I don't know if it was just him or if its the card...

And if you care, (which you probably don't, but I'm gonna tell ya anyways <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->) these are the specs:

    get a dvd player

primarily to have a secon CD drive so you can do direct cd to cd transfers (lite on makes good ones, I buy from them)

as for the audiogy, I have never heard of any problems with it, I am willing to bet this was an isolated case that wasn't even really b/c of the audiogy.
Also, it would be hard to believe that the primary sound card for gamers would not work with the largest on line game <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I don't really need a dvd player/burner... I have 3 DVD players and 1 mini one. Plus my dad's computer already has one... I have no use for it. And I'm already 200$ above my limit. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
