with cheats with these it's obvious that some ppl are using ever script known to man to increase there skill and hacks like jessen (the people i am talking about know who they are)

what i wanna know it does VAC or CD detect jessen now?

also anyone know why they ain't patched hl to fix this hack vonerablility (please obvious dis question but be nice <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    VAC and CD both detected/blocked that cheat before it was even released.

    I have no knowledge with VAC, but I do know CD makes it unuseable. CD will make almost all hook hacks like jessens unuseable.

    CD has always blocked JessenNS, and it doesn't matter if VAC did or did not because its not implemented into NS until 2.0 ...

    The only hacks that will get past Cheating-Death are the ones that can crack its challenge to fool the server into thinking the client is running. As of CD 4.0 they have an automated challenge updater, so this will become even harder as a new version won't have to be released to change the challenge therefore hacks can be blocked more readily.

    There are quite a bit of hack proof VAC cheats, good thing about VAC though is it updates fairly frequently and they don't tell you what cheats they updated. So if they update, and it now detects a cheat that wasn't detected, and you get detected... you get a like 5 year ban. Sometimes this doesn't do anything as people just change their CD Key, but its a pretty good punishment so I think it deters a lot of small kiddie hackers. But if you want to stop everything cheating-death is the best.

    VAC is basically a blacklist of cheats. They have to know about the hack\type of hack to detect it.
    CD on the other hand doesn't detect, it just tries to confuse hacks by feeding them the wrong data.

    i thought CD was ment to work with VAC running now? So i hear, is this true or they found lots fo bugs they gotta fix before hand?

    The way CD prevents cheats is by hooking into the client like a hack would, and blocking it. Since it does that VAC detects it as a cheat. So it could never work with VAC, even if valve found out a way to co-inside CD with VAC I believe VAC's blocking is similiar to CD where it takes the hook and CD wouldn't be able to. Many people get frustrated that CD and VAC don't work together and blame the coders but its really not a possibility.

    If your reading that CD now can work with VAC, what was meant by that was earlier versions of CD, even with VAC disabled, wouldn't run. The version that had the 'CD now compatible with VAC' was just saying that you could run it when VAC was disabled.

    couldn't CD peeps send there data to VAX and so the VAX peeps would get some programing done to ignore that as a cheat?

    the way VAC and CD work are mutually incompatible. The UA people have no information to send to Valve because it doesn't detect cheats.

    what i am saying is i'm sure if UA talk to VAx peeps, they can make it so that VAX ignores CD as a cheat therefore still detecting it but ignoring it, that way wouldn't both work?

    no because the cheat coders would reverse engineer CD to see how its hooking into HL and copy it for their cheats, thus their cheats would look like CD to VAC. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Couldn't VAC implement something similar to CD's current challenge system? Some sort of verification code that changes every few days. Have both clients update the challenge from a central location, but encrypted so others cant just swipe it.
