W_loadwadfile: Couldn't Load Gfx.wad

I am using HLDS v 3.1.1.1 - Linux dedicated Server, andi have installed the NS1.0 Server - and the 1.04 Patch, and when i try to start the server, i get this error.
FATAL ERROR (shutting down): W_LoadWadFile: couldn't load gfx.wad
./hlds_run: line 83: 14256 Segmentation fault $HL $*
- I have tried with -debug - but i diddnt haeve gdb installed, i also tried to chmod the files,
tried chmod 770 on all files, also tried chmod 755 * -R on all files.
still no joy, anyone have any ideas?
