I would like to be the 1st to make a fun map with the prefix "fun" so here it is. Pipes in mario take you from 1 place to another same in this map. I will probable add more to it but I want to try this out 1st.
somthing I just noticed. the unzippe file is about 28 megs uncompressed. My skybox is compressed to 97% that's what I call compression.

    Looks fun!
    I actually made a Mario map for CS(fy_mario), some time ago when I was still playing that game. And I have a couple of mario-textures, that I made for that map.     VERY NICE! LOL I'll have to test this. Also, I'm glad this isn't just the CS Mario Map converted, that wouldn't work for NS.

    Just DL'd it (boy is it small! very pub friendly!) and did a walk around!

    Very cool map!

    Some suggestions though:
    a) The floating at the far end of the alien base... it seems you made it so you can't build there... which is fine except you "hovar witout flapping" <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
    b) One of the pipes above marine start is kind of in the way for the comm. If ya could make that a func_seethrough (or whatever the name is) that'd be peachy!
    c) The sky... well it's kind of bland! Maybe where the pipes "go into the sky" make it look like they go "into clouds". Just a cloud like texture at the base of the pipe or something! Again, func_seethrough's.
    d) Can't remember where it was... but there is a model that replaces the CS chicken with a flying Goomba... if you could just get it in there too! Check the "skin of the day" archives on <a href='http://csnation.net' target='_blank'>CS-Nation</a> cuz that'd be cool.

    And if you can... some mario sounds or music would be teh pwn! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Can't wait to try this map with some people!

    Yeah, from the screens the sky could be improved. I'd suggest a mario style rolling land scape... clouds simple and cartoony, uh... hils and mounds of earth. I'm sure it wouldnt take a couple minutes to make a textre like that. It doesn't have to be a sky after all.

    Yea, I will improve on it. Rite now I just wanted to get it realeased so it could get playtested so I can have a good version in a month. I am trying to win {DEAD}Scotts Fun Mapping contest.

    Its on the server now, I also wrote a .res file for this and any other maps you create. Its in the Fun Map Challenge post. I dont see a sprite, minimap for this.

    I noticed you can fall off of the ready room and walk around on the skybox (thank goodness for zhlt or I would have fallen right out of the level). You definately need to fix those pipes that block the comm's view. Also you could make those pipes a little rounder, you're nowhere near the r_speeds limits. And speaking of the pipes, the brushes don't mesh perfectly, you you can see through them a little. And why do they have that lip on the inside of them? I never pictured mario's pipes like that... Also since you have the teleport destinations in front of the pipes tele-fragging could occur in a full game, especially since it's such a small level.

    evil... all I can say is evil.
    ok its a funmap, I wont play it! its too ugly for my taste. and look at the pics: maybe if you changed the models skins to look more "mario" it would fit. so its just nonsense in my eyes... completely nonsense. but nethertheless funmap gamer: enjoy this map.

    Itsa'me! Mario! Rhoad's mario map for Flaytona looked sorta like this, but had a much more mario feel to it.

    shure, lern quark if you arent able to carve right XD (not really a cause to lern a complete different mapping prog...)
    hint: dont use carve because the result will always be poor. try to vertex manipulate the objects to the shape you want. when used right the vertex manipulation tool can be the most powerful tool in vhe!!!

    Quark does carve and vertex manipulation. It's just easier in Quark than in Hammer. That pipe took me about 5 minutes to make, and most of that time was getting the mro_green texture and measuring the size of Gimpy's pipes so I could make mine to match. I based it on the one at ground level in the marie start.

    Another reason they have the lip at the end of the pipes is because it is easier to get into them if they are on their side. But nice pipe. I will fire up quark and see if I can figure it out.

    Ok I used Quark and made prefabs or pipes facing in all diredtions. So now I have good pipes.

    when you're in the marine start have the top-side music
    when you're in the pipes have the under-ground music

    maybe as a easter egg you can have a hidden room where there's a model of mario, toad, luigi, peach, and bowser!!!

    Can you lower the hives? A gorge can't heal spray them cos they're too high. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> Which therefore means the JP+HMG wins. :/ Or allow a some way to get to the same level as the hives so you can heal them from the side.

    How about having the boxes do something? Perhaps have a few that are illusionary and when you pass through them you get a long jump pack, armour, or activate some doors or something.

    Looks good, gameplay needs work IMO.
