I have the same problem. My friend (Techie guy) says that my hard drive is busted. Your hard drive is probably busted, too.

Pew. I'm going to find someone who tells me everything is all right, then fly off to my never never land and roast some marshmallows.

    ...

    Darn.

I got into the BIOS while booting up, but how do you tell if it detects it?

did you configure the jumper switches on the back of the HD to slave? normaly its on master
only do this if you are useing an IDE cable that already has a divice connected to it.

if you already know this just ignore me.

When you boot after it counts the ram it switches it will try to detect your HDD's

    something like:

    Primary Master: WD3920 blah blah
    Primary Slave: Not Found

    Secondary Master: CD-ROM
    Secondary Slave: Not Found

After it does that the screen goes black and there's a box taking up the top half of the screen. You gottta be real quick, so hit the PAUSE key on your keyboard and it'll stop booting into Windows and give you time to read it. In the bottem left corner there will be a section on the hard drives and cd/dvd roms plugged in as well. Hit any key to continue booting when you're done reading the screen.

Also you can boot on a boot disk and run FDISK and hit option 4 to display device list to see if FDISK sees the drive.
