It seems, and that's just an outsider's observation, that all MMORPGs had horrible launches so far. Being rushed cash-cows and everything.

two days ago I got banned from an NS server because I was talking about how bad SWG was going to be for the first 2 months. The admin was elligedly a beta tester and kept trying to argue that it wasn't that bad, I kept referring him to first hand experiences other beta testers had. He eventually just broke down and said "Shut the f**k up, it's going to be f**king awesome you a**hole" and banned me.

My general rule with any Massively Multiplayer game is the longer they've been out the better they are. Because if they suck they just die out. As much as people hate evercrack it ended up being the most well rounded one after 4-5 months, luckily I got out after 2 months or I might still be playing lol.

If you think this is bad, wait till people can log in. Then wait till they find out they can't use 90% of their Advanced skill tree because everything in it wither hasn't been tested, or isnt even in the game yet.

This is just the tip of the iceburg, it all goes downhill from here

Can't say I'm surprised. Most of the Star Wars games (besides TIE Fighter and the Jedi Knight/Dark Forces series) were pretty - rather, really - poorly implemented.

[Edit]Mind you, the JK games were just Quake clones with lightsabers and force powers.

I disagree. The bad ones were mostly the ones mad to cash in immediatly on something, or the ones that hoppen on the console bandwagon. We all know Episode 1: TPM and Demolitions sucked, but Rebellion, Shadows of the Empire, XWA, and Galactic Battlegrounds were nice. And, mind you, Starcraft was just a Warcraft clone with space battles and 3 races

Well since your fitting to a story line you can't be as creative as if you were comming up with something original so I think that is why alot of games licensed after movies don't turn out as well as if they just took the idea and ran with it.

Meh can't say it really surprised me.

They will patch it up into a reasonable game over the years, with people still playing, just like EverQuest. People will complain and moan about how bad the game is while they pay the $12.95/mo and continue to log 8 hours a day playing the game.

It's just how MMORPG's are.

SWG will be successful regardless of how good a game it is, simply because there are so many die-hard Star Wars fans out there who will fork over truckloads of cash regardless of the quality of the product just for the experience of somewhat partaking in that universe. This is nothing against the Star Wars fans because I admire your loyalty even if I don't quite understand it. For your sakes I hope it's worth the hype, but I would be surprised if it did.

Rebellion was fairly good actually. Slipped my mind about that. Unfortunately, I did not rate Shadows of the Empire as a very good game, nor X-Wing Alliance. Galactic Battleground could have been far better if they gave it another month or so, all in all it turned out into a dumbed down Empire Earth.

By the way, I didn't bring up Starcraft or any Blizzard games.

The European launch of DAoC went off fine as far as I could see it. I never had any complaints.

Star Wars freaks don't fork over cash just because it says Star Wars on it, just like computer freaks don't fork over cash just because you can run it on a computer. We know crap when we see it.

Hey, I loved Shadows of the Empire.. I thought it was fun...

But I agree, the Dark Forces series is the only one to be consistantly good.

Blizzard has done a good job of releasing games when their ready, and being commited to making sure that gameplay is at its best, I mean, they're still making sure people in Starcraft are happy, they're making sure that they're free servers are running in good shape and trying to make a cheat free environment for no profit at all.

Blizzard has an outstanding record for games, in my opinion, this is what all game companies should be like.

They aren't servers, they're just matchmaking services. Still costs money, but it's just a matchmaking service so you can play.

I want to play SWG so badly just because it's Star Wars. I honestly hope to the gods of gaming that SWG will become totally awesome in a few months or so because if this screws up I will be saddened and lose faith in anything Star Wars, except for the original trilogy.

The only way it could become totally awsome if if they decide to:

1) Release the expansion for free: It has all the things that SHOULD have been in SWG in the first place.
2) Redo the entire combat system.
3) Redo all the skill trees.
4) Redo all the classes.
5) Redo the Medic class.
6) Redo Missions.
7) Redo PvP.

Any of that gonna happen SOE? No? Buh Bye.

I figure SWG will be OK in about a month. I wouldn't recommend trying to get into it yet, though.

While watching that video clip, dont eat or drink anything or else it will be all over your keyboard and monitor. Also go to the bathroom before, cause you'll pee your pants laughing so hard (i got cramps).
