Equilibrium

<div class="IPBDescription">This movie rocks</div> God, I just rented Equilibrium with my friend after seeing a few people recommend it and...

Wow, it's just awesome. Reminds me of 1984 with bits of The Matrix and, uh, the Jedi's from Star Wars. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. If you have seen it, what parts did you like the most or what did you think about it?

I was a bit disappointed by the fight between Preston and Brandt at the end. He kind of just got owned with no real fight. The end was still good, it was just a little bit anticlimatic. Then again, the fight with Father was pretty hot ****.

Anyway, there's my thoughts. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

If you'd had listen to the directors commentary on that scene, you would have found out that the reason the scene wasn't longer was due to a lack of budget and time. Other interesting facts: In the beginning, when father narrates the part "The Grammaton Cleric", that's Kurt Wimmer, the Writer/Director doing the Gun-Kata moves shirtless! In the first fight scene, when Preston is charging the door the sense-offender rebels are hiding behind, due to a lack of budget and time (stupid Dimension Films ™!), the lead camera technician pulled the camera dolly using a bigass rope, along side Bale (Preston), to simulate it being on a guide rail! If you want more Easter Eggs, feel free to ask.

About that scene, as well as the cop who said the same thing... they said that out of fear right? Yet they're not supposed to be allowed to feel...

I saw that movie about a week ago. I've been ranting to all my friends about it, and made about 5 or 6 new converts.

    ***minor spoiler***

The first fight scene took me a bit by surprise, I expected it to be a "brave rebels pizown cops" sort of thing. Grammaton guns = rockage.

    ***and spoiler is done***

Go, quickly, see the movie! You will enjoy it, or your money back (if you can find me to get it forcibly)!

I think when you know your about to have your arse handed to you and then most likely killed you don't care too much anymore.

plus "Oh sh*t" expresses more surprise than anything and that's not really an emotion more of a reaction.

Oh yes, his breakout of interrogation was phenomonal.

When he first threw the clips to the ground, I didn't quite see what they were, so I thought they were some sort of grenade. Then he goes all gun-kata and when he reaches the magazines at the end of the hall, it just clicked in my head, it was brilliant.

Heh.. I've actually got it in my DVD player now. Rented it after hearing about it here on the forums of all places, and ordered a copy the next day.
The interrogation breakout scene was wonderful.. had a friend that I showed the movie to, who I'd sadly drawn a 'matrix fight scene' parallel for. He was watching that sequence literally slack-jawed.

I'd agree that the Brandt bit at the end could have been a bit longer, but I honestly liked it how it was. Except the fillet. That was pretty unneccessary to actually show. Not that I have anything against gore in movies, but there are just times when they've set up a classy feel SOMEHOW on their budget, and then jam in something like that to make it *perfectly* clear what happened. :b

I'd have honestly preferred the fight between him and Father to have gone on a lot longer. Everything after that was pretty downhill, despite the significance of it toward the movie-world.

dang that poor cop who gets his hand broken, then his leg, then his entire arm broken. Soo painful. he screamed pretty loud too. Was that really neccisarry lol.

its funny too b/c if u listen to the special features Director/Producer commentary like every scene there is fighting they ramble on about how much they detest violence and guns.

thats why they used the black sqibbs instead of the blood red ones in the fight scenes.

PS: Squibbs are those small explosive charges they use to simulate bullet holes in walls and people when they get shot.

EDIT #2 the last fight was ment to be longer but they ran out of money and they didnt want to do it half arsed. Go all the way or none at all. Is what the directer said.

yea well, there seems to be a lot of us who liked it <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> . See it for yourself. Dont always go by the reviews.

I mean look at the Boondock saints, a B movie that has become a legend to many people in the film industry and its fans.

Lots of review places have bogus peoples reviews included as well. i once saw a review for like ( I forgot the movie) but some guy wrote how horrible the film was. That he could not belive it had so much drugs and sex and stuff in a family film.

There wasnt any of that in the film, the guy was just being a moron to convince people not to see it.

I will admit, the fight scenes were quite neat and such. But I found it a little too obvious/slow. Maybe I just got lucky and was guessing right would happen next each time with ease, but I found it more like watching a Barney movie <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Kinda mindless and not too eye catching.

On the other hand, people were calling it a matrix ripoff, which I really dont agree on <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I love the boondock saints. It got a bit boring with repeated viewings but it still kicks arse. I love that scene where they fight Billy Connolly and one of the saints shoots at him then neatly catches his spent shell <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

It then refuses to forward or rewind. I got up to a bit where Bale takes his glove off to feel a banister. Good scene, but it froze then. <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Yes. They call it a ripoff (which it really isn't... it's actually original) after four to five years of nothing but Matrix parodies and such. Also, the Matrix was more kung-fu. Equilibrium was Gun-Fu.
