We're currently scrounging around to find donors. Right now we have 8, possibly 9, but we need 14.

I'm sorry you won't get a reserve slot if you donate, but you will go down in the FR31 hall of fame. I'm sure donors would have a greater chance at getting a reserve slot than most other people.

Its looking hopeful right now, I have been spoiled server-wise for coming across such a wonderful server, and I wouldn't know what to do if it went down.

Click here if you are feeling generous.

CoFR is the best server I've played in

Although its sometimes time consuming to wait for room to join, it's worth the wait!

Save it people!

I wish CoFR weren't full right now. It's the only NS server I like playing on.

If anything, I want to organize a massive CoFR community exodus should the server go down. Come the end of June, we all invade the highest-pinged 18 player server we can find! Who's with me?!

I hope you guys find a good solution, because I've become too used to playing NS casually with all my buddies in the CoFR server. I don't think I could play in a server with a bunch of strangers anymore. I'll be cruising around the country visiting family members and old friends during all of July, since with summer comes my largest vacation. When I get back in August, there BETTER be another server up for the CoFR community! Or else! =D

The first and last time i went there, no one would leave the ready room, even the admins. It was like 3v4 with 8 people spectating.

Then the marines built outside the map on nancy, and the admins didnt do anything about it.

Best server? Hardly.

Well, that happens occasionally after a long, good game. They talk about it in the ready room after it's all over. I've never seen the admins permit things that were against the rules though. If they knew about it, they did something about it.

From all the positive responses in this thread, i can see it was most likley an isolated incident.

But meh, its what i saw, so its what i go by.

If you are willing to write off a server based on 1 game where people didn't do things the way you prefer, I am quite surprised you play anywhere at all.

So youre saying you would return to a random server where you had a bad experience instead of just going back to your favorite reg, or just another server? Yeah, that makes alot of sense.

I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to Flayra for being so generous in helping out the fr31ns server and creating an amazing game I'm more than happy to support (I gave early on to the Constellation program and I will definately give again soon), Brutus for funding said server for all of these months even though he never has time to actually play the game, AAH for helping Brutus with the funding for as long as he could, Stoney and Mustard for semi-capably removing the admin burden from Brutus' shoulders , and to all of the other regs and noobs on the fr31ns server that have caused me to develop my NS fix into a full blown addiction.

This is by far the most enjoyable on-line game I have ever played, and I have the honor of being a reg on the best server that hosts it. This is saying a lot since I've been playing online games since I started playing MUDs over a 300 baud modem.... My god I feel old

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the server. At times the regs tend to sit around and talk a bit if the last game was really long. Sometimes everyone needs to cool off. That happens less now because there are a few "fun" maps that were added primarily to relax (in my opinion anyway) after a long battle.

To Flayra: It means alot that you are willing to support the community in this way. I think I have never seen the devs of a mod do something like that before. Thank you.

Thank you Flayra for helping out the server!

I've had my best gaming experiences on that server due to the great community and this amazing game you've created.

Spectre put it nicely:

Wow Flayra, that is really going above and beyond! Everyone who is a regular on FR31 is not only indebted to you for all your work on such an awesome game, but now also for helping to keep our NS "home" alive. If I ever figure out what name you play under, I just may chomp you a little less hard.

That's a very generous action. Yes, what the above said; we appreciate it. Now this is a community.

One thing I can't help but wonder - which of the fellows on the list of reserve players is Flayra. I had no clue that the lead programmer of the mod was among us.

Playing on CoFR will be all the more intriguing now.

Roob's server is also in danger of dying, and along with D*mbass Brits (stupid filters) and Bry's 1.05, it's one of the UK NS servers. I realise it might be asking a bit much (I don't mean to overstep my boundaries), but maybe, if the donations to CoFR are impressive enough, you might consider a more concrete "Donation for Servers" section of the constellation program?

Does this mean CoFR is going to stop banning people for being skilled? If so please take me off the ban list.

I was banned for being 'too good' as I was told, which meant I was probably hacking. Of course there was no proof because I wasn't. I'd still like to be unbanned, and no, I never swore, abused voice comm or any silly stuff 12yo cs players do.
• NadsyNadsy Join Date: 2003-02-27 Member: 14112Members
People are not banned for being good. If that were the case, half the regs who play there would have to find a new server. People are banned for not following the rules. Some apologize and are unbanned, some aren't and whine. CoFR's strict rules and admins who enforce them are a large part of why this is such a quality server with a solid group of people who love the server and will not play elsewhere. Let's not hijack this thread mmmkay?

Flayra, I really don't think you should be doing this.

We have a large community together, I'm sure we could support ourselves. I don't think we should be taking away from the development of NS for a private server.

But anyhow, I think everyone on the FR31 server would like to offer our sincerest grattitude for everything you've done for us.

Thank you Flayra!

EDIT: archaven, if you were banned, you were not following the rules. I have only seen one ban for a case with suspected hacking. We have MANY skilled players on the server, that could probably solo an alien team by themselves, maybe even twice. Did you ever swear or behave inappropriately?

Note that a few posts have been removed / edited. This thread is an attempt of organizing the survival of a great server, so don't try to throw it into topics that have been brought up a few hundred times by now.

Wow, 6 pages on FR-31. I haven't played there in a few months, I see it is full everynight on ASE. I had some great games there and enjoyed playing with all the reg's. I was a little sad more CoFR didn't take to the game, it was like NS was designed for us. I happened to hop on the server last night and there was still the same people playing away, if my wife would only let me get away with that. Once I finish my RL issues (fence, deck, sod and new baby) it will be time to play some more NS. The summer slowdown has started and NS and DOD are the only thing being played these days.

Cheers [CoFR]Rugger

Anyone wishing to donate to the upkeep of My server, please see the sig.

Looks like being about £165 a month (I guess ~$200). Some have already pledged, and to those, thank you enormously.

Sorry, just had to make note of this on here, as the thread about my server stuff is here, in servers and server ops.

Carry on, and for the sake of high quality UK servers, I really hope CoFR stays open.
