<div class="IPBDescription">mazy needs ur helps~</div>I thought somebody inhere might be sorta wise on this, so here we go :)~~

The thing is that im thinking about buying a new harddisk, to be specific, Im thinking about buying an "IBM DeskStar 180GXP 180GB" IDE100, the problem is that I dont know if my motherboard can handle it.
My motherboard (which is an Asus A7M266 Socket A) does support a max of IDE100/ATA100 (its sorta old, 2 years). This is all nice, it sounds like it should work, but ive also heard that big harddisks (such as 180gb and higher) can be sorta nasty on IDE100, and that you wont be able to use more than 120gbs of it, and that it might f0ckle up, is this true? Or can I buy it without worrying? :o

/me flaps around in off topic~~

I'm sure it can handle it, but just update to the latest bios to make sure.
Also I wouldn't recommend buying a IBM DeskStar they are the devils work! I've had nothing but trouble with mine, bad blocks and weird sounds, until I moved it in my cabinet to a much cooler placement.

if you cant use more than 120 gb, you could try partitioning it in to a 60gb (for os and (if you dont use XP) other stuff) and a 120gb for games (or HL2)
