<div class="IPBDescription">/me keeps you guessin'</div>Isn't it time for a new Natural-Selection.org flash intro. Don't get me wrong, I love it. But I think it's a bit old. There's not much in it either. Just those words. Anyone know what I mean?

Sorry guys. We'd love to, but the guy that does our sweet flashwork (BathroomMonkey) is kinda tied up with sweet model and texture work. Maybe later.

Actually, as far as the flash goes, aside from terrible voice acting and a couple creative suggestions, the vast majority of the flash was done by my good friend Andrew (who recently did the motion design for the beautiful <a href="http://www.minusa.com" target="_blank">http://www.minusa.com,</a> among others).  He's booked pretty solid, too.

It's just meant to be a teaser, anyhow.  We'd love to do a full on trailer, but that's time and energy that the mod itself needs right now . . .

    <b>UPDATE!</b>
Bob-O (my friend) said he would LOVE to do the flash! He would like to talk to some of you on IRC and like a general Idea what the creators want in the flash. His e-mail is <a href="mailto:yo_bananaboy@hotmail.com">yo_bananaboy@hotmail.com</a>. Please talk to him about it.

Can you point us to some samples of his work?
  • FreemantleFreemantle Join Date: 2002-06-16 Member: 783Members
He hasn't put one on the net for 2 years now. Ummm, try <a href="http://ep.iwarp.com" target="_blank">this</a> one. He is much better now (his spelling is better too:D). He helped with the flashwork for <a href="http://www.snr.homestead.com/files/main.html" target="_blank">this</a> site also. He said he wants any audio and pictures you can offer. He said since it has been awhile since he made one, he would make you up a "quickie" so you could see what he could do. Here is a quickie for a mod still in development called <a href="http://www.geocities.com/chuck123ie/pitchblack.html" target="_blank">Pitch Black</a>.  Anyway, do you mind sending him some media MonsE? Give him a shot at it.

No offense at all, but all of those intro's are just black backs with a looping sound and text that fades in and out. I know the NS one isn't all "flash" (no pun intended), but it is a lot more than text fading in and out <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

But, I say give him a shot I guess, you never know!

Have him do up a sample one of his own design, using whatever materials he'd like to use from RR.org. There are about 300 images there.

Just one note, though-- there's already a new design for the site, and it's one of those things that I have to implement whenever the rest of my work is complete.  So, any work that goes into his piece may end up being all for nothing . . . .

Bleh. I managed to forget all about that, with the hustle and bustle of the mod these days.

we decided we will "2-man lan" soon and start "Flashing". And don't worry comprox, he IS better than that and I WONT let is suck. Any audio would be nice because I don't really WANT to make up my own....  <!--emo&???--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo--> we currently are using the turret and the NS_Soundsample pack. We'll probably improv some more if you have none.

Hey.  You got what u asked for..a sample..here is just somthing i threw together in about 30mins for you to see..if you don't like it that's ok. Please remeber this is just a sample not an actual intro.   Just let me know!  Thx a lot for even giving me a chance to participate in the NS webiste!  P.S. Freemantle helped with the picture of the soldier.

Well its nice so far. I think you should make the window alot bigger. You should look into another font as well. I don't really like the part in which the shots were heard and the background turned white. You could fit in some kind of infestion feeling. You can always use the sounds from the NSTR(if you have them...). Some radio commands would be nice(also found in the NSTR). Also you could put more time into it. But that's just my ideas. I could never do something like that(but I actually don't know how to do flash anyways).

Just a reminder again that it's a sample NOT ACTUAL! I am not going to put time into it if it's not going to be used!  Thx for the ideas Jedi!

Ok, we are 2 man lanning at this point in time and I have a quick question. What is the maximum size? (What size should we stay under?) We are keeping it as small as possible for you ppl too lazy to get broadband....

    <!--emo&:asrifle:--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/asrifle.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':asrifle:'><!--endemo--> Die 56K users!

I'm just thinking that you guys should either:

Stay with the size of the original intro

    or

About the size of your sig

    But I really can't say, I'm using 200k.

The only way to keep higher audio quality is to export with higher audio quality.  No tricks, really.  Putting decent audio into a flash file bloats the living you-know-what out of it.  The trickiness is in skimming on other items so you can afford it.
