I tend to play on U.S. servers mostly. They tend to have a lot of older, more mature players. If I play on my home turf, Australia, then I tend to play on the Eftel servers in W.A. I have seen a couple of American players come and play on there and the players were so hostile towards them it was embarassing.

Marine stacking is the most annoying thing I find on Aussie servers and the constant foul language. GameArena servers don't come up on my ASE, so I rarely play there, but I have downloaded the COGS server browser recently, so I might give them a look in one day. Last time I checked Gamearena servers, they crashed every two or three maps and never got through the map cycle.

My preference is for a game on the server I admin in the U.S., [CoFR]FR31NS Alien Infestation, when all the regulars are on and I know I am playing with experienced players. I can get rid of any lamers and fools that come on the server then and I am guaranteed of a quality game win or lose. The map specific tactics are well known by all the players, so I don't have to run around calling out where people should be, they are already in postion. The obvious example is ns_nancy and mess hall/aux gen. Playing on FR31 I know I can count on the WHOLE team being in position to hold these positions at the start and we can pretty much hold the marines in the whole game. Of course the marines know this and counter by immediately rushing mess hall as soon as the game starts to beat the aliens there (thats the beauty of having experienced players, they know the counter strats too!). I also like the versatility of strategies ie ns_nothing. On an Aussie server I would probably be tarred and feathered by the marines if I didnt do a cargo bay relocation on ns_nothing. On FR31 the marines are quite willing to try any number of good strats to win. The couple of times I have commanded marines on ns_nothing on Eftel, I just had to go with the flow, as the marines were doing what they wanted to do and offering alternative strategies was just ignored. The first time it happened I just hopped out of the command chair and let someone else command. Now I just go along with them, but its not very exciting to do the same strat over and over again. This makes me think of another map, ns_bast. I have my own pet strategy for ns_bast, but again, playing on Aussie server its got to be a atmospheric relocation or feedwater. The players once again deciding the strats!! My preference is for going through the airlock and building ip's in main aft and setting up base there. The couple of times I have managed to get people to go there its been a good game.

Its not all bad though playing on Aussie servers. They do tend to rambo a bit and dont seem to contemplate any other strategy then a jp/hmg rush, but I can still have some fun, especially when the players pet strategies fail and they have to fall back on me to develop something different. On a few maps I have developed some good strats for allowing the aliens to get two hives up and taking them on with HA's. I love it when the players show such surprise when they realise we are actually surviving against two hive aliens and we might actually win!

As for the kiwis, well I have played a few kiwi servers and they are ok. The community is pretty small so their is not a lot of variety but they play a good game. They have their mix of n00b players and lamers too though. The last game I played on a kiwi server was pretty shoddy. Gorges with no idea of what they were doing and commanders with little concept of strategy. You can find that type of game anywhere in the world.

Yeh dont really play on nz servers most r packed with team stackers and the noobs ( vets on 1 team vs noobs on the other )

Not all kiwis r noobs
just some ( mostly those Who sux and r new to the game )
which kill the game for those who know how to play.

we vets of nz try to get pugs together and try to play on same server
but alot i think have lost intrest with 1.04

wait for 1.1
