Pleeeeease Check My Server

Hi Gang,

I've got my first server rolling. It's at 66.1.40.217:27015
I'm requesting my NS server brethen to check it out and see what the pings are like, etc. I can see it on serverspy.net :

<a href='http://www.serverspy.net/site/search/server.html?a=66.1.40.217:27015&g=0' target='_blank'>http://www.serverspy.net/site/search/serve...0.217:27015&g=0</a>

but not gamespy or the WON list. I won't even beat the dead horse of "how do I get my server to show up ?" Although I am curious if it will show up on someone else's WON list though as I have only looked from my internal network and it doesn't show there. I'm not even sure if it is supposed to. The not-showing-up on gamespy bothers me though.

Anyway, feel free to goof around and play with hacks, cheats, etc. I haven't installed CD or HLguard yet. It has MarineBLood, Armoryhealth, AdminMod, and Unstuck.

If you want to write me so as not to clog up forums, I'm at:

    I'm sorry, unless you have openMosix and migrate that process to a 2000XP or a 2.4Ghz...thats not enough...sorry

    What is a 2000XP ? You're surely not refering to a windows OS (oh the horror!). As for the 2.4GHz, that's reasonable. I can upgrade motherboard, processor, and powersupply for about $200. I don't know what openMosix is either but I'll do some research. Frankly, I thought the bottleneck would be the connection, not the processor.

    Thanks for the tips,

    but let's be honest, RAM included, the CPU is the more important issue here <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    A 450Mhz Processor won't do it, sorry. It would make a bitchin' webserver or e-mail machine though <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Seriously, I would consider a 1.4Ghz or higher machine with 256MB ram to be bare minimum acceptable for smaller games of 10-12 people. Though for best results I would recommend that you do not run NS on a machine slower then 2Ghz. You can pick up an Athon 2000XP, Mainboard and 256MB ram for well under $200 by looking around on the web.
