If you're looking for advice, I suggest getting the P4 1.6/1.8 Ghz; it is VERY easy to overclock with no danger. The 1.6 and 1.8 models are super easy to boost up. My current 1.6Ghz is overclocked at 2.1Ghz; no problems whatsoever. It's basically a change of the FSB from 100 to 133, and you can probably do a little more as well.

You already know what I told you. :P

But seriously, spend the extra $30 or so and get 512MB ram and not 256...

Meh... just built another Alienware Killer for a local friend who managed to let dust clog his old PSU and short it out. Pulled cash from the bank, and said 'go crazy-go-nuts!'.

ServDream Case (350W power supply, pre-mod blowhole and CPU intake, 120mm fan mounts, space for 10 HDDs in a RAID array) - $80.
ASUS A7V8X - $150 (not on sale this time)
    AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton core, lightly OC'd to 2700+) - $130
Thermaltake Volcano 7+ (Mmmm.. solid copper sink with micro-fins) - $35
512MB PC3200 Corsair XMS - $130 (The cheapo was only $110.. none of the high-end on sale)
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128 (No 9800s in stock.. sold out completely) - $310
    120GB WD Special Edition HDD (7200rpm, 8MB cache) - $80
    52x24x52 CD-RW - $25
    Memorex KB/Logitech mouse - $20

Grand total, right around $1000 even. And this one, if I were allowed to tweak with it a little longer, WOULD stomp the living **** out of the top-grade Alienware rigs, for a third the cost. Match the RAM amounts for an extra $130, or time-and-a-half them for $260, as the A7V8X can handle up to 3GB.. but gig sticks are REALLY freaking expensive.

Anyone else for a Batware machine? ^_^
