Need help with internet stuff....
Hi.... I probably sound like an idiot to all of you guys, but I'm not used to linux and stuff...
Anyway, I have a seperate computer with Linux on it that it the server. The server uses a Crossover Ethernet Cable which connects to my Windows computer, which I use for normal stuff... My windows computer has two LAN cards in it, so that it acts as a router for the Linux server... I have my internet connection shared with my server computer. The internet and everything is fine...
HOWEVER... When I launch my server and it's all set up and nice, I can't seem to find my server listed on any... "server listers." I've tried GS, the regular game's gui... everything, but I can't seem to find my server after it's launched... However, if you know the IP, you can use the console to connect... but that's inconvenient.... Anyone know what's wrong?

Keep in mind I could be completely off base here, it's just a suggestion to try.
Now, however, I have another problem... I have my server on and running, and other people can join it, however, when I use my windows machine to try and connect to it, it keeps saying "Server Refused Connection because: [ADMIN] That name is reserved on this server."
Now... I don't know what the hell it's talking about... I checked every single file in my hlds_l directory, and there's nothing with my name in it.. I even tried changing my name, but it keeps saying that no matter what...
ARGH WHAT'S GOING ON??
dude! here are some things you need to do:
1. Take your linux box and setup some router software on it. You can find lots, do a search on google...
2. Setup those 2 ethernet cards in the linux box.
3. Setup a firewall on the linuxbox with some IP masquerading (whatever the spelling).
4. Use linux for ALL your server needs - use wintendo for gaming.
If you need help just ask.
The name reserved problem is cos you've not set yourself up properly to access your server with adminmod. Probably haven't got the setinfo _pw-home blah line in your config. There's a whole section on this in the adminmod FAQ which you can find at their site.
A derogatory term for a Windows based machines. Basically he's saying windows is only good at playing games.
I was always curious as to whether someone could have their name be your wonid and pass that system
Your TKRevenge plugin had that problem I remember.

The source tells all...
(someone else check it, I'm too lazy to do it right now )

ahhhh, I never even thought of that. I never got a complaint about it at all.
But now that I think about how tkrevenge worked. I'm not entirely sure I could have reliably patched that bug within the adminmod functionality. Oh well, doesn't much matter anymore.
