na dude i got the perfect one.

well this is how i sorted my g.f

1, brought her a white gold necklace.
2, ave my room a SPANKING good clean and shoved lo-lite bulbs in to soften the tone, then i put all RED*fave color* sheets etc on..
then of course you got 'your' song.. i set that to repeat..
3, CHEEESY i know.. i put rose petals on the floor
4, a single red rose just as she walks through the front door.. then she comes up to the candle lit red room and we have a nice romantic night

serisouly everyone says old school romance is dead.. im like 17 and i use it alot.. i love my better half to bits and she really appreciates it
Good luck mate.

hell yeh.

thankfully my woman isnt one of thsoe modern age girls who thinks they should pay etc.. she really likes me being the sort of person to pay for everything (maybe i should not do that ) and just the whole romance thing's little thing's like opening car doors..

Buy something she needs, not what you think she wants, then wrap it up in 4 rolls of duct tape

I don't really do that old skool romance stuff I jus spend untold amounts of money on her and that works for me jus fine. Doesn't work very well for my bank balance tho.

I may not be the right one to answer this question because I constantly fall for the wrong girls, but isn't it a little paradox to ask us, who don't know her, for a thoughtful gift idea? I mean, OK, classic romantics are all good and well, but nobody of us can tell you what she likes / dislikes, we're limited to clichés you're bound to have thought of.
I guess you'll just have to sit down and think about what she likes and thus could appreciate.

10$ spent at your local Building 19(or any thrift store really) and then wrapped in leftover wrapping paper that says "Merry Christmas" is always a solid gift if you can't think of anything meaningful.

Take her to a nice expensive dinner, buy a 100 dollar bottle of wine, then slip a roofie in her drink and while she's passed out get her breast implants. Nothing like a good old fashioned prank on a b-day.

[edit]Oh you said thoughtful gift, misread it as thoughtless and criminal. [/edit]

To be honest I would jus take her out on the town and have a good time. Go for a meal then out for a few drinks and some dancing then mayby give her a small present at the end of the night.

i'd say do something memorible with her.. do something you guys always wanted to do but never got around to. paddling in a small pond, horseback riding, sailing, hang gliding.. ?
how about go to a restaurant you keep hearing you should go try, or make her a nice dinner.
there are many things you can do rather than just giving her something materialistic.
unless, that's what she likes.. you can't go wrong with flowers, that is if she isn't allergic to them.
a couple of favorite cds or dvds?
an outfit?
her favorite perfume?
a pair of shoes she's been dying to get..
i think you'd know what she likes better than i do.. i'm just shooting in the dark here.

I made my gf a huge 5-course meal, and put candles *all over* my apartment, and flowers on the table. She loved it.

*looks in wallet*
that bath and body lotion thing sounds like a good idea
can't go wrong with flowers so theres another one
too bad she's allergic to most perfumes
I never go shopping with her so I dont know what kind of shoes or clothes she likes
i'm not much of a romantic person so iono about the flower pedal idea but candles sound pretty cool

she's a big fan of Dave Mattews Band so I'll see if I can get some tickets.

thanks everybody! <---
