Poor Coil, people don't think they need the manual. Sucks to be them. They're missing out on some tree-based goodness.

FYI Flay took like 2 years off work just to devote full time to NS.

Thats a little bit more than a hobbie...thats some real dedication.

How did you manage to talk to the woman from starcraft to do a Half-Life MOD for free?

Well I do recall hearing that Flayra paid $10,000 or so to professionally record all the sounds and voices in a proper studio. So I guess it gives an indication of just how much effort and expense has gone into this game.

I have no idea what kind of $$ he paid, but I do know that if nothing else, Ms. Minelli was paid for her contribution. I imagine Flay also had most of the voice sounds recorded in an actual studio.

Any chance we can have an approximate value of how much NS cost to produce?

That sad music that plays when Aliens win? And the music on the Natural Selection main page?

Also, what's Empire Earth like? I never knew Flayra participated in the making. It's a pretty good game, I think, but I only got to watch people play it. What's it like?

EE is very good!!! there something I dont like about it though but I can't remmeber

Look back in the forums at the very first constellation thread. Grendel has a stab at how much it would have cost to produce professionally (not how much it actaully cost Flayra), and his guestimate was $100,000.

I think MonsE did say it wasn't quite that high so your guess is as good as mine.

You did it all wrong - you've got a marine Arms Lab needing a Turret Factory as a prerequisite. Or did it change from that for NS's current version?

Cheating scum AI in its single player/skirmish games? I know I dislike that aspect of Empire Earth. Hence why I always try to play it online solely against other human players.

its definitly proffesional stuff, no matter how much it costs, NS is definitly worth more (not only in money)

    respect.

My estimate of NS production costs was actually rather a low one.

It only took into account studio and hosting costs, plus a few bits and pieces, plus the cost of paying Charles Cleveland a real salary for two years.

Bear in mind that Ken20Banks, for example, is now a level designer for Raven. PlagueBearer has been snapped up to work at Taldren. KFS works at 4D.

If you actually paid the team who made NS salaries commensurate with the job market, you'd be looking at quite a bit more.
