    There's a button called "set defaults"
    Should try that one...
    hehe
    Anyway it's strange it diden't change anything...
    Maybe you have a truly sucky screen which can't handle more ?
    Or maybe you're using the plug and play driver ?

    Put your monitor hz near or at the highest it can do, and disable vsnc. This allows NVIDIA users to get more than 60FPS. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    You aint got the idea, this guy is trying to use program that fixes the Win 2000/XP REFRESH RATE PROBLEM, but hes trying to use it to get MORE FPS. This is not the way. HL has its maximum FRAME rate (NOT the refresh rate, ok?) limited to 60FPS (NOT hertz, ok?) and this can be altered by command you write into Hl console, the command is "FPS_MAX #" without the quotes, where # means the new maximum frame rate (not refresh rate <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> ).

    Frame rate (in Frames Per Second) is how much times in a second graphic card renders new picture frame , anything above 20-25 is playable.
    Refresh Rate (in hertz) is how much times in a second is the screen of CRT monitor or TV "refreshed", minimum ergonomic RR is 75Hz, optimal ergonomic is >85Hz. Maximum refresh rate is limited mainly by your monitor (graphic cards can use high refresh rates that almost no monitor can display).
    And finally VSYNC is a method of synchronizing the monitor refresh rate with the gcard sending new picture into it, that eliminates horizontal tearing caused by new picture sent to monitor when its halfway in refreshing the screen and the picture on the screen is moving horizontally. (if you are looking on some wall the monitor starts refreshing with a picture of that wall, but if you then look left, the gcard sends a new picture of the wall and the monitor starts refreshing with the new picture when it gets it, so for little moment you will have upper part of the old picture and lower of the new and so these will be misalligned.).

    If your getting 25-35, your all set. The human eye cant see more than 30FPS or close to it....no worries. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I thought so to before I tried higher <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
    Big difference
    Anyway the biggest reason people wan't higher FPS in NS is the FPS-related things
    Like building and jetpacking

    Anyway HL dosen't lock FPS at 60
    It locks it at 72 mmkay ?

    The standard is 72 so then your HL is weird <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
