Post counts

why are peeps obsesed with them? i can understand that you feel a bit more trusting to someone with a lot of posts, but i also wonder, what else do they do with their life. im not saying that forum people are bad, heck, one of my best friends is the forum-master. however, i think that forums are a rather poor use of time. if you just want to talk to people, why not use a chat system like mirc? whatever, please post your own thoughts and comments.

i can't wait till i hit 500! argh!

It's an innate peice of your mind. It's tied to people's desire to amass objects in unbelievable amounts.

-Edit- Umm... actually... It isn't a big deal anymore. I believe the person who made a comment about them in the topic down the list a bit was only mocking the entire (long passed) situation. And people took him the wrong way. I could have sworn this community had gotten over the issue... Must have just been a misunderstanding of mockery being taken as seriousness. I hope, at least. So anyways, I deleted all but one section of my lengthy post. Wouldn't want to contribute to (or re-spark) a non-existent issue, now would I?

Well... Not necessarily. In forums, thoughts are usually a lot more organized, because people have time think out their replies to questions, and whatnot. It also can reach a lot more people. Unlike IRC, you don't have to be there "at the right time" either... a person could get a lot more feedback on his level or whatever on a forum, considering that people can take a gander at his stuff 24/7 instead of the brief few minutes that it's up on IRC... It just has the potential to reach more people on a forum.

Forums aren't a waste of time, the yprovide you with lots of info, and you can find me in the IRC room everyday.....Just call me a NS addict d:)
Problem with IRC are the timezones, timezones don't matter on a forum...
And yeah, I thought we already discussed this and got over it, guess i was wrong...

ken pretty much summed up forums vs irc. another thing is that some people can figure IRC out.

    It's a statistic. I for one am a downright stats #####.

If a server has stats (such as cs.meatyballs.net 1,2,3 that I regulary play on) then I'll stick around just those servers to increase my stats.

Post count is just another to watch and distract yourself with.

Stats suck, especially in games like cs, it makes all the good players go on the same team just because they all want good stats, statwhores, grrr, I hate them too much!

I heard somewhere that people who spend much time online on forums and such are usually more depressed than others. Though it didn't say what was cause and what was effect.

As for post counts, at least they encourage people to post in smaller forums, though I don't think that's much of a problem here.

But post counts are the most important thing in the entire universe! In fact my entire life revolves around my post count and how much of a man it makes me feel. They're so incredibly important that we have to bring this topic up over and over again...

    They're THAT important...

mmmm, id have to agree with all that stats crap, ive been wanting CS to go team score only for about a year now, its one step towards making it an actual team game, though a lot more would have to be done to make me start playing it again.

I don't think of post counts. Also I think it's cool seeing myself over 100.
But of course if you're new to a board you are going to trust people with high post counts.

In games, the stats suck. Especially in CS. The whorest thing I ever saw was when I shot a terror once. He was highly damaged and so it only took me two shots to get him down. Just as I had shot him another CT went round a corner, looked at the dead terror and fired two shots on me. I asked him what the heck that should be and he just answered with one word: fragstealer.

Only one of the fact why I don't play CS anymore.

PS: One thing: Shuvit: You avatar scares me.
