How can I do this - must be an easy way
I found a big stack of my old games (Z, Magic Carpet, X-Wing ... ) the other day, but am having difficulty getting sound in a few of them because it's been so long since I had DOS-based games and I can't for the life of me find out what my soundcard's settings are. Is there a simple way to find this out in windows, or a simple program I can download that'll be able to tell me?

Usually, with those old games, the default selected value will work just fine. I didn't know what any of those things were back in the day, and my games still ran just fine.

Win98. As to what card it is, I don't know off-hand as I'm on a different comp right now and the other one's not mine to begin with - just one I've adopted.

Other no doubt irrelevent information: Celeron 400, 128 Mb RAM.

right click 'my computer' go to 'properties' find the 'Device Manager' go to 'Sound and Vediogame controllers' (or something close to that.. been ages since I used 98) find your soundcard on the sublist click it and hit properties, the IRQ will be listed ither on the first or second tab right where it says 'No conflicts, this device is working properly'

having same problems myself trying to get the oldies to work; damn confusing using just a onboard sound for the motherboard. Using the macs *shudder* at school right now, but I'll post up the details about my card after.

The weirdest thing is that it says my IRQ=A

    What the hell is A?
