I saw some of this guys work ages ago and pretty much forgot about it ... some wonderful stuff up there though so I doubt that’ll happen again soon

The underwater facility concepts are breathtaking, as are the indoor tech room sets for Mindbridge. Now if only Half-Life could handle that level of detail... *drool*
His Bloodrayne level concepts should be required viewing for any Day of Defeat mapper trying to do castle-style levels.
Some of those concepts are just so amazing. AbandonedPlaces is spiffy as well... Some of the factories on there remind me of the buildings I see everywhere around here (Duluth, MN). Pretty cool for inspiration on both pages. I usually just look at the little things.... a ridge here, or a support there.
It may seem strange, but I also draw inspiration for my level design from music as well. Just listening will cause images to appear in my mind. It's really great. I can get basic and heavy architecture from the bassline or otherwise deeper music... little or finer details from the overall flow of the music. Shouldn't suprise anyone to hear that my current work is being inspired from the likes of Korn's "Falling Away From Me."
Anyway, on the image inspiration side of things, I'm left very disappointed with the D00M3 engine after seeing this.
More paintings like that can be found at http://www.goodbrush.com. Some pretty cool stuff there... Especially if you just look at shapes and not necessarily the environments. Like this.

*sops up the drool from his keyboard*
OMG, those are some awesome pieces of art. Feng Zhu is now my role model. I'm thinking of becoming an architect or engineer, something that doesn't always use a computer, and I love to draw, I just haven't ever made an actual final product. But I think I'll try following his techniques with the markers and everthing. Those drawings are incredible. My main problem is that I don't have the supplies readily at hand for when I feel like drawing something. I usually use pencil and notebook paper, and that is a terrible medium for drawing. I'm gonna go buy a large sketchbook and some pens.
I think architecture might be a little different from what this guy is doing. My bet is that he's into concept art and design (which, btw, is what I'm studying :).
