Server Operators Using C-d

It seems no matter what version I have of C-D, its always the wrong version, and when you have the wrong version, the game says that my "system is modified" and won't let me play. Its very annoying. I just got 2.7.1, and tried two servers today, and both did that to me, probably because they weren't yet running 2.7.1. So, kindly state which version you are running.

every server running CD should be using the latest.

Btw, post in the CD support forums with your hardware and drivers. the servers aren't locking you up, thats the CD client. the server just runs the auth software.

It also sounds like to me that you are going to a server that is enforcing consistency.

It would help if you said what code you got. Whenever you get the "System has been modified" "error" it means that there is something that the C-D client doesn't like. Each code has a meaning. Anway, this has nothing to do with consistency, as the server won't even let you get past the consgreet before it says that you don't have something you should or you have something it thinks you shouldn't.

I believe that new CD clients are backwards compatible with old CD server versions. (But not vice-versa, for obvious reasons.)

So as long as you have the latest client, you shouldn't have to worry about which version the server is running--at least insofar as it applies to you personally.

in accordance with Terr's post; i was able to join a 2.7.0 server running 2.7.1 with no problems. but when the server updated to 2.8.0 i was disconnected and forced to update myself.

Fear not, soon the server plugin will auto update.. and we shouldn't have any more stale C-D servers..

I will seriously look at CD when both the client and server are automatically updated. Now If I could have the client be downloaded automatically and give the user and option install it while in game .. then have it install, restart the hl client and rejoin the server where they were connected to I would run a forced CD server for sure!!

well I don't want to force them.. I would give them an option ..

1) install CD
2) disconnect

if 1 then download client, install, restart, reconnect. Bada Bing

The whole point is that I don't want to have to make the user do anything.. I mean hello .. most of them have a hard time just installing half-life and getting the NS mod running!!

I wonder if I could make a wyse installer package that would do that? Hmm.. oh if I just had about 20 more hours a day!!
