Do Your Speakers Pick Up Radio Signals?

<div class="IPBDescription">Mine do :O</div> Occasionally I will hear anime or some spanish talk show if I listen closely to my speakers. I have come to believe that my speakers are capable of picking up radio signals. Can I prevent them from doing so?? Its annoying cuz whenever that happens I hear a bit of static as well <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Nope no radio, I only get a bit of static, probably because of my old sound card.

    Whenever the ignition in the furnace in the basement goes off -
    BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT!

    My speakers spaz out for about 5-6 full seconds. Really loudly. And god, it's wonderful when it goes off around 3am. It happens randomly - but since it's colder at night, it goes off a lot more often. Ugh.

    I get peoples mobile phone conversations sometimes!     No, I don't get Radio Signal, but the Gate Downstairs. See, I live in a Condo, and to enter you need a Key/Code to get in. If you're visiting, there's a phone so someone can buzz you in. If you pic the phone up and listen, it picks up Radio Disney.

    Now that I think about it.... my speakers picked something up, and I think it was a Phone Conversation, but that happened once.

    If i hold the plug that goes to the Speaker Out of my sound card (which would be the input to the speakers) between my thumb and forefinger, I get radio signals out of them, I think its a sports station Im picking up.     with a buttonpress, i can pick up any radio station on my sound card

    Those are not radio stations. It's just that your speakers are possessed. On a more serious note, when I still had battery-powered minispeakers in my room, I always heard nifty radio conversations when a police car passed by. Don't ask me why.

    this is how it works.

    when a radio wave that has a wave leangth that is the same leangth as the wire it will cause electricity in the wire to vibrate at the same frequency as the radio wave. the speaker will then output the sound.
