Gamespy bullies kill yet another gaming community

<div class="IPBDescription">...and we cant do a thing about it :(</div>Hey all, I been playin around with the Serious Sam engine, and scince the game is fairly new and not as publicized as many other games are, there are few places on the web to find tutorials, get help or form a strong sommunity for the game. One of the few places to do so was Seriously! hosted on the Gamespy/3DActionPlanet network. Well, thats gone now, read this thread at<a href="http://forums.seriouscommunity.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14562" target="_blank">Serious Community Forums</a>to see how it all started. This fiasco with game spy went on for weeks until finally, they removed Seriosly!, the site, the files and all the work our fledgling community put into making that site THE web rescource for the game, without turning any of it back over to the sites owners, wich they are legally responsible to do. Ive heard numurous negative things said about game spy but only now believe it. Theyre hosting services seem great at first glance, but file planet is just a big hassle, They over moderate hosted pages and thier ads are out of control, on top of having admins with god complex trying to bully the very people who they are actually working and providing services for! I was looking foreward to having a mature community like this one some day(wich we will) with the support of the major game sites but o well. The people at Gamespy have truly lost sight of what being in this business is all about.

    Old news, my friend.  We even had a discussion about it here.  I think the concensus was that yes, what happened was wrong, but that NS is probably going to need Fileplanet's resources at release time, so let's not get GSI too annoyed at anything that may go on here in NS-land.

    i for one dont care about all the ads. sure,they are INCREDIBLY annoying, but i smile every time i see them on a gaming site. why? because they are keeping it alive, and hopefully the site is making an eensy teensy profit to benefit the creators. with gamespy however, i dont really like em because there is also a subscription service. i say one or the other.

    Lets just hope that I get my Gaming Company to be successful enough to bully GAMESPY around...

    Or that Flayra and crew get into a gaming company that does the same.

    That is just plain sick of gamespy. Seriously.
    But, if I'm right, I believe Gamespy can actually get sued for that. This is actually a very good time to kick gamespy where it hurts. With the help of croteam it may even be possible to take them to court for trying to take down another company using their corporate monopoly ><!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    Actually after the fiasco with the forums there was mention of a lawsuit, but it was shot down because at thet point they had been ######## but hadnt really done anything worth sueing over. Now we just gotta wait and see that they give the owners back thier files and site contents before we cry lawsuit. It really sux cuz al they offered for gamers and modders and mappers and everyone was an overall community experience, and now what started out as a good thing has become the opposite prolly because of the almighty dollar! Its a good thing HL blew up before gamespy, cuz we all know those jerks would NEVER try anything like that with any of the big dogs!
