How much does it take to make

Aliens kill marines?
I looked around in that soundplace... geez, some of that stuff for sell seems real pricey. So I was thinking.. how much DOES it take to make a mod like this... or in this case, how much did it take to make this mod? All in all, I'd figure it wouldn't take as much as making a game from scratch but still it doesn't seem like it would ALL be free would it?

    Taken from the Flayra Interview:

Flayra: As for myself, I’m devoting all my time to NS right now, I’m draining my savings.

I'm sure that without a job a lot of that money is going towards living expenses. Which is not to say that this mod. is cheap. It seems to take commitments of all kinds. time, money etc. We just have to make sure the mod. becomes more popular than Counter Strike so it pays off for Flayra and the team.

Well, from chatting with flay in IRC about this, he said hes spent MANY thousands of dollars on NS, but you'll have to get the facts from him, your sure one determined guy flay!

Yes certainly one determined and devoted person. I for one am extremely grateful for all the effort Flayra has put into making this Mod a successful venture. I can't really think of any way that we (the community) can repay him, except by maybe playing NS alot... Hmmmm.

Well, we'll be sure to do our duty. My advise is to be one man PR units. SPread the word. Tell of your friends about the mod. Go into other forums and put posts in their Off Topic sections like "Check this Mod out: NAtural Selection", plaster public places with flyers showing Bob and "Natural-Selection.org". Who knows, they may not know what its about, but that might instigate their curiosity. SPread the word!

I'd rather not give exact details, but I've spent a fair amount. Most of it has been living expenses, though there are the occasional other biggish expenses (web stuff, trademarking, sound stuff, voice acting, penthouse parties, etc.) from time to time as well.

Hey don't feel like you owe me anything, we've had a lot of fun doing this!

Scary as it may sound, I hope valve will pick up on this more so than they already have, If this mod went retail, It would make me proud of the DEV team. Because even though CS is popular, there isnt really anything origional about it unlike NS.

Besides whats another cash-cow for valve and the DEV team going to matter ...

I hope for nothing but the best for the dev team, fame and fortune aplenty, and all that...BUT, do I want Valve to pick up NS?

I´m not sure - just think about what happened to CS: Loads of new players, sure, but also a serious infestation with cheaters, and hives upon hives spawning new llamas...

Good for the dev team no doubt - but ultimately bad for the hard core CS players.

Jeez, now I don´t know WHAT to wish for...
