Weird Error Message

after 2-4 hours of playing NS, it often simply exits to desktop and shows this message: "cannot allocate more than 128 HUD sprites"

does anyone know what this means?

or even better, how i can fix this?

thanks. any help will be greatly appreciated.

    didn't think it was that serious ...

    but here goes:

    -intel celeron 1.80ghz
    -radeon 7500 (64mb of ddr)
    -advance ac97 audio (onboard)
    -256mb of ddr
    -windows xp home edition (5.1, build 2600)
    -1024x768x16, opengl
    -no eax
    -problem: as stated before, game shuts down and shows this error message: "cannot allocate more than 128 HUD sprites"

    that's not the problem I thought of...

    do you have any NS skins? do you use the parameter -heapsize?

    aye, i use daemon elite 1.1 skins, and the alien queen hive

    i've never used -heapsize before though

    i've been getting the same error message lately, it mostly happens when i go into the comm chair. I have:
    - Athlon 1700+ XP
    - SB Live! sound, GeForce 2 64MB
    - Winblows XP
    - 800x600x16 OpenGL)
    - Sometimes when i go into the comm chair, it either instantly crashes or sometimes when i go to a certain spot on the map (in comm chair) it crashes
    - No EAX

    i have a pentium III 500 mhz a sound blaster 16 192 mb of ram a 32 mb tnt 2 and run on ogl 800x600

    This system is 3 years old. So i doubt its a system spec problem. turn off 'faster software sprites' mabye?

    i've restored all my skins/sounds to their defaults, but unfortunately, the game still crashes with that 128 hud sprites message... (faster software sprites seem to default to off, so i didn't mess with that)

    it gives me the creeps!

    anything else i could try?

    You can try that:

    -Go to ns\sprites and backup hud.txt
    -Open hud.txt
    -Change the "212" to "214"
    -Save the file and try to play

    If it doesn't work replace your hud.txt file by that (but backup the original file before):

    I've deleted the small spritres (for resolutions below 640x480) and then I've put the number of sprites in the first line. It's below 128 so it should work.

    i've replaced the hud.txt file, and it seems to have fixed my problem (10+ hours pure gaming)
