i have been shopping around and I was looking for a decent price server that can hold 16-20 people. I checked https://griffinrun.com/ and thier price came out the following

1-month order for a 16 player Public game server located in New York, New York

Setup fee 1 @ $30.00/mod $30.00
16 player Public game server located in New York, New York, supporting the game(s) of Natural Selection (cost x 2). 1 @ $540.00/month $540.00

Total Due Now $570.00

I was wondering if anybody knows of a cheaper place.

and notice how it is x2 for each player

I rent a BF1942 server from them and I am very happy. There prices for a NS server are the same as all their HL servers, around $100 a month for a 20 player server, I think. It depends on if you want CPU priority, FTP access to change dlls, etc. Check there prices for HL servers and you will see what I mean. They have test servers up. You could try this one: 66.28.23.79:27015

    www.gibgames.com

20 player pub 120 (324.00 for 3 months paid in advance) (we just got it and so far it rocks)

    20 player pub 150 - premium bandwidth

Check them out they have the best pricing per player for NS that I have found. There are others out there for less but ping is always an issue.

You can test out our new server here: 66.28.81.32:27015

This is located in Dallas. I have tested another box in the same datacenter as ours (same type of box too) and on a full 20 player server deep into a ns_bast game my ping was around 80. Also my entire clan tried this server from everywhere from Canada to the East coast. They all had great pings (Canadiens were a little high due to distance I guess)

The only other service I can recommend is www.serveitup.com, a 20 player pub is around 180 a month.

However if you are on the cheap cheap you can try www.krypt.com, I wouldnt recommend anything over 16 players to be good (yes I have experience) I will however say that there service is unbeatable. Usually 2-10 minute email reply for me.

hec yah.... Thats our clan server right there. Ok, there are some good and some bad.

Good- When it runs good, it runs REALLY good. About 60% of the time its almost perfect. The service is very good, and the prices are excellent.

Bad- Two days after we purchased it, we started getting some nasty lag spikes, and so far I have not been able to find the sourse of them. The server just has random times of day where it becomes totally unplayable. Which is very fustrating. However, all in all, its better than our last pingwise.

The last server we had was a krypt.com server. And yes, their service can not be beat. But do not count on getting a super high player count, or for it to be the greatest ping. But they are very cheap also.

Right now, if it keeps this up, I am probally going to switch over to a new server. I think the problem is that how nggamer.com keeps the server price's low, is that they divide the CPU up among a few different buyers, all of whom can possibly use the server at the same time. When we all try to access the server at the same time, we kill it. It makes for some annoying times, when it dies every night at 8:00-9:00, and fridays. I might stick with them though and just use a paypal account to get it set to a dedicated server.

*Just to put a bump in my other post*

I'm not sure what other services do, but with gibgames, at 20 players you get your own box. Although it runs on Windows (Yuck ) the pings we get are really good.

If I were you I would email/check out at least 15 different companies before you decide.

I searched google when I was looking for "natural selection game hosting", you wont see much until the 2nd or 3rd page.

    Good Luck!
