I was wondering if you could bind all structure build commands to buttons on the keyboard for example you have the turret res and ip already bindable through the controls but can you bind all structures??? if so please inform me how. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

Do a quick search for "hotkey" or "impulse" (use the search function located at the BOTTOM of the general forum), and you should come across several threads listing or linking to lists of all the impulses and hotkeys that NS uses.

Yes, you can use the 'hotkey' system. Hotkeys have to be directly bound to individual keys, and so cannot be a part of a scripted sequence (meaning no one-button 'select medpack'->'drop' buttons). Also, for the individual hotkeys to work, the menu you normally select them from must be open as well. Not a problem considering you can bind the menus to buttons as well, but something that is occasionally forgotten.

Bind "KEY" "Whatever the impulse is and;wait;+attack1"

No. You can't. Hotkeys are not impulses. Hotkeys are written so they have to be bound DIRECTLY to a key to work. Even aliasing one will end up with a simple 'unrecognized command' response. That is WHY they are Hotkeys, and not Impulses. Why all the Comm Mode drops are governed by Hotkeys, and not Impulses. To prevent that kind of thing.

Don't believe me? Give it a try.

He's right. You can't even bind it with another command to a key, like "bind a hotkey59; close". It's a real pain in the backside, but I can see why it was done.
