<div class="IPBDescription">If you don't like NS, do this!</div> Instead of posting that you don't like it here, which is daft since most people here like the game and are not going to change their mind just because you don't, try this:

1. DON'T play the game! This makes total sense, since you don't like it. You may even want to stay away from anything NS, like this forum or pictures featuring NS material.

2. Start an anti-NS club! This would be a great way for you to interact with others who feel like you and vent your frustrations.

See? I don't like watching basket-ball, so I *don't* go to basket-ball games. Going to a basket-ball game or joining a basket-ball support club would be a very bad idea for me, so I don't. If someone *asks* me if I like basket-ball I will gladly say I don't, but I don't actively seek out basket-ball-lovers and try to convince them basket-ball sucks.

The problem here is that a few retarded counterstrikers think NS is a new realism mod , sci-fi CS. They can easily ruin a game... and then say "it sucks , unbalanced , cheating aliens , noob teammates" ect...

I found out that sneaking games (Thief) / RTS (StarCraft) experience is much more valuable than "elite" aiming skillz.

[edit] this "censor" script is just fun... is it linked to leet/normal english translators to modify gibberish text ? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

It started as a thread about people who hate NS not going here ( makes sence )
And now it's a "You can't hate NS ! And you can't like CS !"-thread ( makes much less sence )

cs is good no need to insult it considering its at a much higher popularity status then all other mods/ possible online games period.

NS is a great game and so is CS, and i appreciate them both for what they are.

also where is admin > vote to kick player option!!!! its only eject comm and ready room options right now
  • JowerJower Join Date: 2003-02-12 Member: 13448Members
    CS is fine...
It's the people who play it that suck ( mostly )

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->also where is admin > vote to kick player option<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Counter-Strike is a good game, despite the development team's failure to patch many known exploits for such a long time, if ever. NS is even better. However, they are both great games - when played by great people. Your experiences in a multiplayer game or sport can only be measured by how cool the people you play with are. Even the best game (a.k.a. NS) can suffer the wrath of the 3v|1 114m4 0 d00m. NS seems to be more fun for many people because A)It's new and development is going smoothly B)It has a more inventive concept C)IT HAS NICER PLAYERS

No matter where I seem to play, CS public servers SUCK. Sure, you may find a couple of good ones, but they are few and far between. No matter how bad you think an NS pub game experience can be, CS has topped it tenfold. Llamas, cheaters and downright mean people abound in simplistic anonymous environments, and CS easily fits those criteria.

Still, if you can find or set up a decent server with a good player base, you can have lots of fun. I admin the server of a LAN cafe in Iowa City and usually have lots of fun doing so, mostly because I know and get along with all the people I'm killing (okay, I do absolutely HATE one guy there, but I won't get into it).

So whenever the hive tells you that "We need better players," go tell it to "OMG 5TFU pl4y c5 OMG!!!111oneone."

Cs has chaeterrs because you get credibility in the community for beiing elite if you win alot, these cheaters just try to get away with it.

Once NS gets huge there will be cheaters.

I've heear rumors of a bite script that makes you leap (without 2 hives) at an enemy and bites them when you make contact.

.... and such problems are being actively addressed by members of the community as well as the dev team.

I prefer to focus on NS than compare and contrast between mods and games. Where's the point? Why not just make this mod we play as good as possible and enjoy it?

The close-knit community we have in NS is something that will last however big the game gets, as long as those who run servers are in contact with "the community". At present there is a very good server admin base with relatively few poorly run servers. Hopefully it will stay that way, it's up to us to make sure it does.

i have been playing DoD recently and its a great game. the maps are excellent, the realism is "blow-away-your-mind" (as well as most of your body) but i dont play it as often a si would prefer because in-game, nobody says anything. ZIP. ns game are all like "RaR" and "OMG THEY HAVE FADES WE LOOSE" and everybody is much more chatty. DoD is not like that at all. the players take it too seriously for my liking. Ther is ofcoure the occasional "I own you all", but nothing like "ph34r my "elite" w3b of d00m, J37P4k3r"

please dont get mr wrong, dod is a great game, just, the players are all too serious

I find that in every mod bar NS. If i start chatting to my friend via voice comms on CS i am immeadiatly flamed with cries of:
"SUYF N00B!!!!oneone Go (expleatative) him if you love him that much GWADD!"
"Mute me?" <--- voice of reason
"NO YOU NUB OMG I HATE NUBS FO AND PLAY ON A NUB SERVER YOU (expleatative)"
    and so on.
On some servers people would rater put people down and cheat to look "elite", thankfully I haven't witnessed too much of this in NS, apart from the horrendous skin hack in 1.03 <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Keep being nice and nice poeple will play this game, and that would r0x0r!

Like i said, its because they really want to win, no chit-chat no nothing, just pure hardcore elitist gaming.

    Theyre all CPL champion wannabes

I played NS for the first time last night, and I have to say, I'm really impressed, not just with the game itself, but also with the people playing. I displayed such a high level of general cluelessness, that I expected I'd get kicked to the curb. Instead, people busy playing were totally receptive and got me up to speed pretty quick (as a light support marine). Looking at this topic makes me think that maybe my experience was somewhat lucky? I tried aliens after that, which was definitely interesting and unique, but much harder to get into. Because of the increased mobility and the bizarre level design, even with the hive sight I had a seriously difficult time finding and staying with teammates. I'll give it another shot sometime, but I think until I get more acquainted with the levels, I'll try to stick marine.

I gotta come out in defense of CS though. Not all of the community is crap, its just a lot more popular and your going to get a lot more noise. I routinely find some decent folk on public servers nowadays.
