I did this in Kingpin, though mainly only for deathmatch training, and it was extremely popular.

The idea is simple: You want to train to play better, whether you're new to online gaming with NS, or you just want to get to grips with this mod. In the NSW (Natural-Selection Workshops) there'd be the standard maps, two teams etc as normal. The difference is that on each team is a dedicated trainer (or two) who will guide a small group of their team (ie give them tips and show them around maps, also get them to work as a team). The aim is not necessarily to win the game, but instead <i>to learn how to play it</i>.

At the minute I'm just testing the water, I've not got masses of time, but if people think this would be useful I can easily set aside times on my server for "new player training sessions", and I <i>should</i> be able to get a few experienced players to help me train the new players too.

SO:

if you're new to online gaming, or just new to the mod and you would be interested in some training sessions, say so in this thread.
Also please say so if you think it's a bad idea, but please say why. Any experienced players who would be interested in helping out (if the response is positive of course!) please also post in this thread.

I forgot to say that my server is in the UK and this is mainly aimed at UK-time players. Also currently the only times I can actually make it would be Monday or Thursday nights (7:30pm until 11:00pm GMT) or Fridays (5:30pm until 9:00pm GMT).

I don't want to fill up all these slots as they're the only times I get to play!

Good idea. I've tried to do something similar in the bounds on normal games, i.e. follow the new guy and teach him how to gorge, but I'm all for dedicated training servers. I'm sure finding trainers will be much easier than convincing people it's a good idea to go to NS school.

Id love to help anyone who wants to know how to get started, cant say Im godlike or anything cause it aint true but I can answer most questions new players have to ask and I put it in plain english due to my plain nature <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Uhh I can get a server sorted also no problem, Im in #thehaven on qnet from about 5pm to midnight most days.

Actually this idea came up in the server and operators forum... its kind of a tricky topic since it belongs in both.

However, I really like this idea. If we can get training sessions going it would make for a lot fewer frustrated newcomers.

I'll let this run for a while, see how many new players are interested, if the response isn't great but one of the rest of you want to go ahead with it, I will be able to dedicate some server time to this.

I would be glad to teach people how to command and possibly how to Gorg effectivly. I'm on eastern time... I think its -5 houres, but check my profile to be sure.

It seems that there really aren't enough new players interested to make this worthwhile.

If the situation changes I will re-evaluate.

In the mean time however, anyone who wants to be shown around the game, feel free to come to my server and I will show you around the game and give you help. Address is at the bottom.

Thanks all for your support and offers of help, though with the number of people interested (2 to date) I don't think it's really going to happen just yet.
