Turret Vs. Turrent - The Battle Continues

Any idea why the use of the non-word turrent is so common? I mean, the "n" key is nowhere even close to any of the keys needed to spell turret. Is this a typo in an english text book somewhere?

I'm confused....

    Its spelled Turret.

    because a -t ending is often used in words with an N before it.

    example: went (commonly used word)
    lent
    meant
    rent
    bent
    plant

    etc.

    Same with -ck, too. ever say "cloack" by mistake?

    I think the forum should automatically replace "turrent" with "turret", the same way it replaces "1338-1" with "leet."
