<div class="IPBDescription">Thread Locking</div> I thought this was off-topic discussion. As long as we keep it clean, our threads wont get locked/deleted, right? Why is it then every thread I have made has been locked when what I'm talking about is legit? I havent talked about anything illegal, immoral, offensive, etc. Just good fun, so there better be a good reason for locking all of my threads.

    Because most of your threads are spam. You don’t add anything to the discussion, you didn't read the FAQ or the Manual, and you certainly don’t use the search function. Here is a quote from you:

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> Sorry, I have much better things to do than read a manual when I can get you chuckleheads to tell me. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    This gets really old, fast. If you don’t shape up you could find yourself banned.

    your seige thread was locked because coil thought the other guys were being A-holes. You had nothing to do with the actual banning(although you were acting like a complete n00b[and insulting the |337 5p3k as n00bish as well])

    The fight with norn thread was locked because it was obviously either 1)flame bait, or 2)just you being stupid for no reason, which will get locked around here if you catch the mods in a weird mood(unless you happen to be me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> )

    Just incase you haven't noticed, I thrive on argument and I will do all I can to get my point along. It may seem I'm trying to instigate a fight; most times it's meant to be humurous. From the tone of both of you, it seems that intellect is discouraged and blindly following well respected forum members is the thing to do. Kind of like, communism.

    About "elite speak", it has gotten really old fast. Back in the days of Windows 3.1 and telnet, the new language which came about by using numbers and misspellings may have been ok to use once in a while, but when you use it today you throw away all your integrity (unless its in a joking fashion). I'm not going to let some moron think he owns me because of a few extra zeroes he uses in a word, its stupid. <b>Again, leet speak has turned into newb speak.</b> When you've exhausted all methods of countering me, using 0's and 1's in words isnt the way to make others think you're the smarter one.

    Sigh, I try to have fun with this forum but it seems you're all just a bunch of stiffs who would rather penalize someone for a vaguely offensive joke than laugh and play along with it. None of my posts have been spam, because frankly, they've got much more substance than your own arguments about me. There is no way I'm going to kiss up to some guy who thinks he's right because he has 3000 posts, and neither will I do so for a moderator (in other words, I'm not going to agree with someone just because they have power and respect). I have read the FAQ, and followed the rules. If you dont like me, deal with it, because my reasons are just as legitimate as yours. Not until I do something wrong, or a moderator does a 180 on his own rules, will I leave, even if it means I need help doing so.

    As a community, this place is doing very nicely. Hell, I wish I could have 10,000+ members on my own forum. But with it comes its own share of inflated egos and arrogance (take the guy above me for example). There are some good people, but coil seems to be a very restrictive moderator. I'm sorry, I guess Im just used to all the spam etc the internet has to provide.

    I appoligize to supernorn2000. This whole thing was a photoshop fiasco, and I think I might stop posting on this name in order to stop slander on his own behalf. I thought you guys might laugh, guess not.

    I think you may need to check your ego slightly, it is not just some of the other members who have one. Heck I know I have one, and I try to keep it in check. I love an intelligent debate more than anyone else, believe you me, as long as it does not come at the cost of humilliating or demorilizing someone else. I more often than not am sarcastic in my posts, but that is just my humor and I mean no disrepect for it. The only advice I can give you is if you are looking for an intelligent discussion, more often than not you will not find it on the internet. Just keep respect on the boards and you should have no trouble at all.

    arguing ideas&such would find themselves much happier in the discussions forum. I think Coil is realizing just how stressful moderating can be, and is pre-emptively locking useless threads. Playtesters can only handle so much stupid.

    As for thread locking, since when do people post a complaint about thread-locking as often as they post about the aliens/marines being too overpowered? I swear this feels like the 4th time this week.

    Closing thoughts (thanks, springer): no one is targeting your threads and locking them. There have been many posts about many things, and sometimes you'll get a locked thread by not finding a previous post stating what you just posted (the search function no longer works for me, but I've been active for a long time now), or it will be locked because you use the words Voogru(voogru's a nice chap, but his servers raise hell with the community), or something flamey is going on (mods H473 F14M3R5)

    You said 2 things in your own post that show why we run the forum like we do:

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Sigh, I try to have fun with this forum but it seems you're all just a bunch of stiffs who would rather penalize someone for a vaguely offensive joke than laugh and play along with it.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Yes, <b>you</b> can understand how to take jokes like that, keep them funny, but not take them too far. Heck, we do all the time in staff IRC channel <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> But the problem is, many people out there don't know when to stop, and well, every post like just degrades into pointless spam and ends up being locked. If you like arguing, go down to discussions forum down there.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->As a community, this place is doing very nicely. Like you kindly pointed out, "on my own forum". Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but this is the NS forum, and it's run by a group of suposedly tight arse fools who worship lock and nuke more than their girlfriends. We run a tight ship here, but, for the 1/1000 members it annoys, it keeps the other 999 happy. Like a democracy, the majority rules <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    damn you kharaa, now I'm going to code something so I can read that without having to think too much!
    I'll post what it says in like 45 minutes (I want to eat first).

    [edit] well poot, I couldn't decrypt it; trying to convert from Bytes is proving more annoying than I thought.. stupid java![/edit]

    [edit] cheating using SuperGrendel, I get
    /*i "" g u e s s
    *"" t h i s "" m e a n s "" i m
    *"" 01101100 00110011 00110011 t*/

    133 ??

    "I guess this means I'm 133t?" Shouldn't it be "elite"? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Now the real question is: why couldn't my friggin cypher work? I'm such a sad excuse of a CS <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> [/edit]

    [edit] OHHH, SG, you had it right, the filters change words on us again. Haven't I started a thread about changing certain words being lame? 1 3 3 7 needs editing? [/edit]

    This forum has some sort of script that changes l 3 3 t into "elite".

    Example.

    leet "elite"

    ^I just put the word leet and l 3 3 t without spaces.
