Win2k problem...
I got suckered by some spyware screwing up my browsersettings and all. I decided to suck it up and just make a fresh reinstall of win2000.

After reinstalling everything boots up fine but explorer and the controllpanel takes an extra 3-4 minutes to become available. Before that i just get a "program not responding" message.

I know very well this aint no general techsupport forum but i thought maby someone knows about this specific problem and there is some obvious thing i missed. Maby just a shot in the dark, but what the hey....

Amd duron 1200
320 ram
geforce 4 ti4800

Oh well...

You re-installed the OS because your browser setting got messed up! Are you mad?

Well not sure what the problem is but did you reformat and install fresh? Cos if ya didn't that could be it.

I got one of those deals where a program installs itself without asking. It makes your browser automaticly find millions of bloody popups from internet casinos, pornsites and whatnot. It puts little icons and shortcuts in every corner of your browser, all leading to various sites. And no matter how many you close, they'll be there when you restart the computer. Major pain in the backside to get rid of. Tried a few spyware bots but they didnt work.

I just figgured it would only take me an hour or so to reinstall everything since i've only had win2000 for a few weeks. I have only my sorry self to blame..

Anyways... DoomManiac usually has good advice on stuff like this so i was hoping he might have a clue

Use this http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ It's a quality spyware cleaner which i've used for ages. Also set your browser to prompt you before a website wants to set cookies n stuff. Lastly stop looking at sheep pr0n!

Soz I can't help with your problem still.
