Jamil, what model is "your" model gonna be for? HA or LA?

Plus, what is the Gauss-Rifle for? LMG or HMG or Knife or GL or WELD?

Edit: I also heard that the Gauss-Rifle or another version of the gun shoots Spikes not natural bullets.

The rifle is for the knife, and the marine model is for the gorge.

Hey Wertdagf, you want to shutup already?
You can make suggestions, but don't tell me what to do. All over the board today, we've got "What Wertdagf wants!". If you're not willing to model, sit down, shut your mouth. If I ask for your input, then I'll accept it. Otherwise, I'm the one modelling, I'm the one investing a lot of my time, and I'm the one that's making the decisions.

I appreciate the ref pics, encrypted zero. They're all different though, and I don't like the top two other than the head. The whole model needs to be bulkier, I think.

Of course not. But when in doubt, aim for the nut container.

Nope, no help. I tried enlisting Mercatorn for aid, but he hasn't replied to my PM yet.

I'm still quite new to modelling. I've been on the HL modelling scene for about a year now, but it's slow going learning on your own. I've always enjoyed drawing, particularly pencil art, so maybe that gives me an edge working on this stuff. Skills still need refining, and I'm fine tuning them as I go on. I've learned a couple things working on this piece. That sort of makes it frustrating though, because after you learn a better way of doing something, it makes you want to go back and start from scratch knowing you can do better.

Oh, and I stopped playing NS about a month ago. I'm pretty much phasing out of gaming. I'm finding I enjoy constructive use of my time a little more. Still play Warcraft3, and expansion, and whatever comes along that catches my eye. I've spent maybe 5 hours on this thing today. So much creating and deleting. Oh well, better than working on my school assignments.

Well damn I wish I would have read this post last night, I wouldn't have started making a marine if I knew there was one in the works. Jamil's looks a lot bulkier than mine. I was aiming for the HA model but I guess I could slim mine down a bit and try for the LA. However, if those renders that Zer0 posted was his model for NS I'll just stop now, I can't beat that .

anyway here's what I have so far.

carry on its good to have lots of player models keep it up
• JamilJamil Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4829Members
Lets make a collaberation effort on this, then. I'm a little unsatisfied with my progress so far, and I'm looking at redoing a lot of it. I like the helmet you made there. I'd like to keep that. I'm going to rework the boots right now. By the way, what modelling program do you use?
• JamilJamil Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4829Members
Wertdagf, shut it already. Know what you're talking about first. The HMG doesn't spit out any models, it fires sprites. Go read a little about modelling before you start posting. At least then you'll have the ability to discuss something without looking like a total moron.
• JamilJamil Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4829Members
Take my advice. Stop posting things to the effect of, "Do this for me", and go read a tutorial. Your time is better served and so is mine by not having to read such useless posts and threads. And jeeze man, don't ask someone to find these files for you, DO IT YOURSELF. If you don't know how, read a tutorial. You think I learned how to model by asking on the forums or taking courses? I took initiative and I read. If you don't want to do that, I'll shed no tears when people like me drive you away from the modelling forum.

Sprites, Wert, ALL sprites!

And you're calling Jim self absorbed? PFFFFT! LISTEN TO YOURSELF! "Make spikes, make them silver, and find these folders for me!" Do it yourself and stop critisizing others.

I use 3dsmax 4.2. I'm almost done with mine, well the easy part at least . I still need to make a few adjustments (the arms seem a bit to long now that I look at them) and someone to skin him because I'm not that good at making textures.

Jamil I'm not sure how you want to do this but I'm open for suggestions send me a message (don't email, I've got bombarded by tons of spam so I don't check that address much anymore)

I've added arms, a head I stole from one of the avp models someone made for NS and changed the look a bit. He's at 1696 polys right now, wich is a bit higher than my goal but the head alone is over 200 polys. I could close the visor and loose the head if I had to.

Sweet model. I like wert's idea witht he two versions...or maybe there could be an animation where he flicks the visor up or something.

I have an idea for a SC model pack.

You know how they have different team colors on SC mulit? Well we should have that.

If you use the Blue models..you get the Blue shoulder pads (and other area's where there is color on the armor) and some of the marine structures will be Blue also...same goes for red/white/yellow and so on. Hehe..good idea - no? Even though it could take time with the recoloring of each structure and marine/armor

Is he going to be using the "soldier" skeleton or the "heavy" one? It strikes me that a suit that bulky would look better on the bigger skeleton.

Oh, and excellent job!
