(Paleontologist student asking)
Alright, I'd imagine many of you have long since discarded interest in dinosaur as being childish. I on the other have decided to devote my life to the study of extinct animals (Paleontology). Anyways I am always interested in finding out how much other people are interested in my future profession. It helps when I talk to the general public to know what areas of paleontology they are most interested in.
So whats your favorite dinosaur, or other extinct animal?

If i think of a real answer i'll edit this....
I picked Stegosaurus the first time around, but switched to Pterodactyl after a bit.
yeah, i started that thread. My all time favorite is the sabertooth tiger, given that it was a real animal and not something i saw in a cartoon when i was little.

Thanks for telling me about that post...it was entertaining to read. I wish I had a pet dinosaur.......
There was some talk of cloning in it. Basicaly the conculsion was that it is improbable to actualy clone a dinosaur, which is completely correct. Good job, I can't tell you how many times I've had to argue that point.
The only thing I would say is, as a nit-picking paleo student, to point out that Pterodactyl was a pterosaur, or flying reptile, not a dinosaur. There nothing wrong with thinking they are dinosaurs though...they lived at the same time and lots and lots of childrens books (which is all most people ever read about dinosaurs) say they are dinosaurs. And I did ask for extinct non-dinosaur animals in my question too.
Hmmmmm I didn't answer my own question........My favorite dinosaur is definately Stegosaurus....has been since I was a little kid. I don't use it as my handel mainly because I don't consider myself worthy of useing it's magnificent name. You've got good taste Flatline
Favourite extinct animal would have to be a Wooly Mammoth though.
Damn! I should have said that!
hey btw infinitum how come you have 8-bit ninja under your name? How did you get that there?
Euoplocephalus have you seen that awesome documentary on dinosaur hunting on AE?
It was the expidition where the student palentologists were searching for remains of the spinosaur, but instead found the remains of the titansomething, it was bigger than the ultrasaurous (huge).
Anways, good luck on your future career

Yeah that was pretty cool. That huge sauropod is really cool. It's name is Paralilatitan, I think.....something like that. It is even cooler than just it's size.
Most sauropods, despite the popular image, didn't live in swamps, they lived in very dry enviroments acutaly, tehy had compact feet and would have sunk into the muck in a swamp. Paralilatitian on teh other had did live in a swamp and had very large, spreading feet to help with the muck problem.
And to all of who like Yoshi........sigh........I suppose he is a better dino than that purple singing monstrosity
(just kidding I've always like Yoshi, he's such a cute little dino)
