Func_* fullbright stupidity

<div class="IPBDescription">How the f....</div>See the attached pic...

where the fan is it is actually recessed quite a bit and is encased in a circular vent ...that's how dark the area is - you cant even see the round part.... so why the hell is the fan full bright? This has always been my problem...I can't use func_* entities for objects because they don't light correctly (or at all...just one type - full bright)...

help?

Ugh, I remember you having problems with that before... what are your HLRAD settings?

hmm, what render mode are they? they have to be set to "Solid" render mode to light properly, i think.

No, it has to be Solid or Normal, everything else ends up fullbright (And normal should be the default). You should also make sure the minlight field is set to 0.

Yama - I've got it on texture... how else do I do textures that have transparency?<!--emo&???--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo-->

Heh, well that's it then (The "texture" setting). If you set it to Rendermode "Solid", RenderAmount "255" (or 1 or whatever, apparently)... anything pure blue in the texture will be completely transparent. If the texture you're using has black instead of blue for the transparent area, you might want to try edititing the color.

Hey! That looks great! I don't know if it's the shading on the texture or the lighting in general, but that fan is just kickin! <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Very nice.
