    Yes, even I, who is well known for sucking with text, must look down on upon that text with a shamefull look in my eyes.

    banners are typically a bit smaller ..

    and pick some softer colors - sure, that gets their attention, but its not pleasing to look at

    you'll also probably need some thing better then MSPaint if your some what serious about making a banner.

    Some thing along <a href='http://www.linkline.com/personal/nuthouse/banner3.gif' target='_blank'>these</a> lines. Small and to the point.

    ((sorry for the high jack, just trying to give an example) the banner was made in a joking fashion, but I like it <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/style_images/2/icon4.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'> )

    The font is terrible, generic red, on a background that consists of a lerk flying in front of what appears to be a warehouse of empty pallets.

    It... err... sucks. :\

    Now the text is a bit to dark, and you still need to tweak the blending options a bit I'd say. But that's just one man's opinion.

    its better, but I dont like the background image and its still too big...

    if you want a realistic type picture, why not use a real picture? Otherwise, I'd go with an ingame shot

    not too bad, at least it's better than the ones "I" make.

    I really like the way you have the Lerk in position, in the centre. Its a very good focal point, the only problem is that it means that any text that goes over that has to be quite bright to be seen. This is doubled by the busy background.

    With Photoshop, whenever you add text, you can change its opacity, and give it styles. Try using those to give it a drop shadow or a border, which should help a lot.

    Oh don't listen to Fam, he's just a tease <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    My opinion is that you go with a totally different text and background, the skybox ain't workin it. If it's supposed to advertise NS itself, then use a stary background mabey. As for the text, you might want to go small, in a way to not make it look generic. And in my view, I'm thinking you should make it more rectangular <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    And if you're rendering that in a model viewer... look for the magical 'Antialias' button. Jaggies galore!

    (As a side note, most rendering packages allow you to put in a custom background image, so there'd be less need to fiddle with the edges in Photoshop, if you set your rendering options, camera FOV, and lighting rig properly.. just photoshop the text over it, and toss on any filters that might be needed)

    If theres not an anti-alias you can try running the model viewer in full screen (that is if youre using HLMV), in a high resolution situation, then resize the screenshot of it, crop it, paste. Usually works for me.
