Returning To Game After Being In Control Config

<div class="IPBDescription">lowers the gamma?!</div> I am playing a game online and I hit Esc and go to Config Controls so I can change one of my binds. When I return to the game, everything is slightly darker and I can't seem to change the brightness back until I exit the game entirely and restart HL and then the color is fine.

What's the deal with this? Someone in game told me I have an outdated something-or-other file. :confused:


I'm running WinXP Pro, all latest patches/updates. Radeon 9500PRO with 2.5 Cat drivers. HL with latest major update and 1.04 NS.

    NS changes your camma value according to the map when you join it. Just type gamma XXX where XXX is the gamma value you want.

    I tried that. I did /gamma and it told me gamma was "2.50000" I tried all the way up to "4.5" with no actual change in gamma. I believe this issue is related to some sort of outdated file, at least that's what I was led to believe in-game. Perhaps someone here can explain that.

    my old PC let me put HL to the task bar even when im playing on-line but my new one crashes if i press windows key or alt tab and on the destop my gamma seems to be much higher even when i re-load HL it still is realy bright , i just the to close HL correctly or i have to join a server again.

    With a pc like urs cant u just type retry in console, and u want be in the config much will you?
